Internet as a medium has been a thoroughly discussed topic, especially in recent years with the rise of the World Wide Web. Analysis of relevant literature in the topic shows that the internet is not a new medium. This argument can be shown by looking more in depth into what defines a medium and what defines the internet. From that analysis by looking from a historical point of view the internet can be seen as an old medium which uses re-mediation to deliver content to users. The connection between internet and its users has helped the internet influence the way media is viewed today. Although the internet is not a new medium the content it presents is new. The advances in technology have helped the use of the internet reach new heights in terms of interest and it's capabilities are now being utilised by the masses. This rise in popularity has given the implication that the internet is new. These points can be analysed in more depth which has led me to take the stance that the internet is not a new medium.
The term 'medium' can be analysed and it can show how content is received by the wider audience. A medium in this context refers to 'an intervening agency, means, or instrument by which something is conveyed or accomplished', this definition is from dictionary.com. The internet easily fits this description, as it is essentially originated a large network with widespread nodes to keep the government in touch. ...ent times, the television mediums has been slowly transitioning to digital format. Digital television has the advantages of high definition resolution and an electronic television guide. Despite these evolutions of the medium of television I don't consider it new, I see the television mediums as new features a result of inevitable technological advances. The evolution of the internet can similarly observed in this way. Packet-switching technology gave way to the ability to efficiently transfer files over the internet, this ability gave way to the dawn of the world wide web and faster internet transfer speeds lead to bigger and bigger files being transferred over the internet. From this it can be seen that the internet is not a new medium, it contains features which make it seem new. There are certain implications that are observed when the internet is seen as new.
With an entity as vast as the Internet, it is not surprising that a variety of unanswered questions will arise. I’m positive that the Internet will continue to confound scholars as it continues to quickly evolve. By analyzing the views of the celebrants and skeptics, I have been able to understand the potential that the internet has. By using the PEC, I have been able to understand how democracy and capitalism relate to the issues of the Internet. In the future, I hope that society can develop a further understanding of the Internet and move toward the Internet that the celebrants had hoped for.
The “Media” is a form of communication channel through which entertainment, news, education, etc are being transferred. The Media tells us about the world, particularly those aspects thereof with which we don’t have direct experience. Media could be in different broadcasting medium such as newspaper, magazine, TV, radio, telephone, fax, etc. In today’s wider world, we have twitter, blogs, Facebook, Tumblr, and more. We currently live in a time where medium does matter, and the growth of technology has resulted in more individuals using electronic media.

Based on the quote above, it has come to an understanding that technology may develop into a new medium.
