Is Genetic Engineering Superior or Appalling?

1183 Words3 Pages

Genetic engineering has changed a lot through the years. It is now possible not to only be able to genetically engineer just plants but also animals and people, plants especially. There are many different kind of plants that have been genetically modified. Genetic engineering is not all good but it is also not all bad. Genetic Engineering will come together the more you read. Plants are not the only thing getting bigger because of genetic engineering modifying the sizes. Animals are starting to become a bigger part of genetic engineering. Humans are also becoming part of this. The animals and humans are not able to be modified as much as plants, but that is only because the scientists have been working on the plants genetic engineering a whole lot longer than the animals and humans. Genetic engineering is sort of like an artificial ingredient put in a gene. Some people believe genetic engineering to be considered as playing a role as “God”. Some people also believe it to be a chance for them to live a life without any diseases. Many different kinds of diseases are being treated such as cancer, AIDS, diabetes, and Bubble boy. The default on using Genetic Engineering for humans is if something were to go wrong it could kill people or spike up an even worse case of the disease that is harder to treat. Other ways genetic engineering could affect people’s lives is if it is used in other things such as plants and animals that people, animals, and insects eat. Once genetic engineering begins to be used it will not be easy to using it. Genetic engineering being used on plants spread to other plants by parasites, pollen, bees, and all other sorts of ways (McPhersson). Genetic Engineering can be used on many animals such as mice and pig... ... middle of paper ... ... Religion and Technology Project of the Church of Scotland, 25 Feb. 2014. Web. 04 Mar. 2014.
