Many people think that a lot has been done to prevent youth suicide. 2,415 teenagers have been committing suicide per year in the last 5 years (Hunter Institute of Mental Health, 2014). Most of them have done that due to psychological issues. Furthermore, bullying is also one of the causes that we should be focused on. In addition, technological developments make it easier for teenager to get bullied through the Internet and social media. I think people should be concerned about youth suicide rather than physical health only because it could be a silent killer to this generation. I don’t think that people have done enough to prevent youth suicide.

Parents want their children to be successful therefore they are trying to push their children to study harder to receive this goal. In order to reach this success, children have to get a good ac-ademic result. Children also want to make their parents proud of having them in life therefore it causes the pressure for them to study harder and harder. Sometimes people forget that the way teenagers think is really different from adults. “Their brain is not grown up yet”, said Richard Knox (2014), they will misunderstand their parents’ true intentions. They tend to ignore their happiness and dreams to make their parents happy until the point that they could not handle the stress and give up. Most parents are not aware of this phase; they just want to show off their children’s profi-cient academic result to everyone so they can be seen as the best parents. The truth is stress can lead into youth suicide.

It is difficult to differentiate between spoiled brat and people who really do need help. Sometimes we get frustrated that people who we thought actually need help are just cry...

Usually people who want to kill themselves will give a signs or cautionary therefore we should be aware of what people are doing and thinking. Society also takes a significant part of youth suicide because most of teenagers or young adults always concern about what people are saying about them. Especially parents, they must be aware and considerate with their children. They must not ignore their children’s feelings. Even though sometimes they will get tired of their children whining and crying, they must still listen to them because it is related to their mental health. Hence, I think there are many more things that could be done to prevent youth suicide.
