Dieting is the practice of restricting oneself to the small amounts of food in order to lose weight. Many people around the world are involved in this practice to lose their weight. Now a question arises, "Dieting is effective or not?" Many people have different views. Some may have find this vital while some are against this practice. According to the various studies ,one third to two thirds of dieters regain more weight than they lost on their diets, and these studies likely underestimate the extent to which dieting is counterproductive because of several methodological problems, all of which bias the studies toward showing successful weight loss maintenance. Thus, Dieting proved to be counterproductive because, it make people regain more weight instead of losing it, make people extremely weak and also badly effects the stomach.
Leann Birch, Ph.D., head of Pennsylvania State University's human development department, asked 192 girls what they knew about dieting, and was surprised to learn that roughly half recognized its link to weight. (McCarthy 20). This means actually we do not know how dieting effects our body. What we only know is, it helps u lose weight. Let's find out the truth about dieting.

...o weight problems and a tiny waist may become overwhelming at times, but when you look at all of the factors that play into your choices of fad dieting or healthy diet and exercise the choice becomes a lot easier. Fad dieting comes with the risks of disease, diminished appearance, and doesn’t even provide the long term desired affects. Healthy diet and exercise helps cure the body and keep it going strong, enhances the beauty you already possess, and has long lasting results that give you the body of your dreams. So when your looking at the skinny bodies on the magazines stating that “they lost 15 pounds in 4 days”, try to remember what those 15 pounds may have cost them. When your looking at the person that worked hard with proper diet an exercise and has that certain glow about them remember that although it is tough at first, it is better done the healthy way.
About 2.8 billion adults every year die of obesity (Diet). Rachel Epstein wrote the book “Eating Habits and Disorders” which talks about obesity being a disease. Obesity is a condition with extra body fat which often starts to form in childhood (Epstein 25). While obesity for some adults can be life-threatening (Epstein 25). It can also form psychosocial problems (Epstein 25). Being obese causes a risk in diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, kidney trouble and more (Epstein 25). Being obese during pregnancy can cause many problems for the mom, and for the baby (Epstein 25). Any of these things could cause many problems either in the future, or in the present (Epstein 25). The worse the eating habits, the harder it is to cure (Epstein 25). The government needs to do more about obesity because obesity rates are rising, many kids are being victims of obesity and they don’t even know it, also Medical Care is taking a big part with the growing obesity rates.

Everyone loves food, but not everyone loves what it does to their body. Society has put such a huge emphasis on body image that many males and females are concerned with what they eat and how it makes them look. This has lead to many people with eating disorders and trying multiple diets. According to LiveStrong approximately 45 million Americans diet each year (Uzoma). Not everyone sees the results they wish when dieting, which makes them frustrated and some give up. The reason the diets are not working may be due to the fact that they are not partaking in the right diet for their body. One effective diet for all is tracking what you eat.
Proper nutrition is important in maintaining a long and healthy life. Most Americans are rushed due to their busy work schedules, and do not take the time to plan their diets properly. Like me, most Americans are unaware of the importance of eating a healthy diet and consume too many foods without the proper nutrients. Throughout my life I have been fortunate. I have not had any major health problems, and have been able to consume most foods without having to worry about gaining weight. These last two years, however, I started to gain weight and have become concerned with my diet. Changing my poor eating habits has been difficult for me, however, having this assignment has taught me that it is not as difficult as I previously imagined.
Obesity is a health problem which is growing very rapidly all over the world. Current health articles such as this one, are emphasizing the importance of diet and exercise, to keep a healthy body weight, and to avoid obesity and its consequences at all costs. It is extremely important to make sure one is maintaining a good body weight in order to avoid other complications later on in life.
For this paper I decided to take a second and evaluate my life and think about what were some of my current lifestyle habits and behaviors and which out of these habits would I like to change. After sitting down and evaluating all of my main habits I categorized them into groups of which ones were helping to lead me to a long healthy lifestyle and which ones were likely to lead me to an unhealthy life and lifestyle. After narrowing these unhealthy habits down to my top three I decided to focus this paper and my attention on my current nutrition and most of all on my negative eating habits. After evaluating my lifestyle and all of my unhealthy habits I felt that my current nutrition level and eating patterns were in need of the most improvement and change.
