In society today it is very rare to find someone who does not own a cell phone. There are ten year old children running around with iPhones. Cell phones have become such an important part of society. They have come along way with the advancements made in technology to allow these phones to do more than you would think possible. We now not only use them to contact people, but use them for social media, to take pictures, surf the web, and get information at the touch of our fingers. It is crazy to think that at one point there were no cell phones. Without the use of chemistry we would not have the cell phones that we use today. Chemistry is defined by the Holt Modern Chemistry textbook as the scientific study of the composition, structure, and properties of matter and the changes that matter undergoes. Chemistry is responsible for the batteries that are in all our our cell phones. Without these batteries there would be no phone. The battery is the main power source of the phone and without it then the phone would not work. Chemistry is used in our everyday life in more ways than we may think. One way that we use chemistry is in the batteries in our cell phones. They are solely responsible for the phone actually turing on and being powered to run. Most cell phones are powered with a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery. Lithium-ion batteries are commonly used in digital cameras and even in electric cars. These batteries are made of lithium cobalt cathode and carbon anode. As long as I’ve lived there has always been some form of a mobile phone. Before the invention of cell phones I imagine that the world was a lot more mystery in the world. Now we can find all information on our phones. We have phone addicts who have to have their phone ... ... middle of paper ... ...e are going to rely solely on our phones for everything. That is what the world is coming to as the cell phones keep getting more and more advanced. We will be so absorbed in our cell phones that we will hardly notice the others around us. Cell phones are great in many ways and have very few draw backs. Without chemistry there would be no cell phone. We would lack many of the parts that are essential to make a cell phone without the knowledge that is known of chemistry. As we learn more about chemistry we are allowed to put more towards the advances of cellphones and technology in general. Things have changed a lot since the first cell phone and they will continue to rapidly change the face of the cell phone. Life with a cell phone has given us a lot of freedom and made it easier to communicate and they have greatly impacted the everyday life of people who own one.
A common theme is taking place where as people feel that cell phones are starting to take over others daily lives. Many people go through their day to day lives not even relizing how often they are on their cell phones. In the article, “Our Cell Phones, Ourselves” the author Christine Rosen talks about how cell phones are starting to become a necessity in every way towards peoples lives. Rosen talks about both the good and bad effects of cell phones and how they have changed the way in which we work our daily life. Although I think cell phones can be necissary, the constant need for use could be the beginning of how cell phones will take over our every day lives.
Sure cell phones make life easier. No longer do we have to call someone to convey a message, just send a text. It’s convenient to be able to call a number and have the person you're looking for pick up, kind of like a direct line. It Takes out the anxiety of wanting to call someone, but being afraid their parents or siblings, or even their significant other will pick up. Many people are getting rid of landline phones all together because everyone in the family has a cell phone. They are like a handheld person assistant. We can set alarms, set appointmen...
In the essay “Our Cell Phones, Our Selves” written by Christine Rosen, the author presents a brief history on how cell phones were introduced into society and how this artifact changed people’s interactions in the physical space. Rosen describes the first cell phone that appeared in 1983 as “hardly elegant,” big and expensive (458). Cell phones at that time were mainly used by important and affluent people. However, seven years later, cell phones became smaller and affordable provoking a big change in society. This big technological advance did not only affect the United States, but the entire world.
Cell phones have made a big impact on the world, for example, people are using them daily, and they have influenced science, politics, and many more fields.

At first they made communication with other people much easier. Now they’ve evolved into mini computers that can access the Internet and social media very quickly. They have cameras that can record video or take pictures. These images can now be posted and livestreamed directly to the Internet. There are many people that can carry-on entire relationships without ever seeing any of the people they are communicating with. Cell phones have also brought to light, the issue of police misconduct. They can be used to capture important evidence in the event of a
Cell phones have changed the way we go about life in many ways. They change the way we interact with people in our everyday life. They hinder our physical aspect of life without us even knowing. One of the biggest issues I see is the changes it creates in our classrooms from an educational standpoint. Cell phones have been negatively impacting our lives in some very important ways.
In the article entitled, “Our Cell Phones Ourselves”, Christine Rosen describes how cell phones have changed the way we communicate. Rosen tells the readers the main purpose for cell phone use in the past, versus present day. Her purpose is to make society aware of how cell phones have influenced our lives in order to inspire change as to how we view our cell phones. Rosen directs her writing to everyone in the present day by describing the negative results of cell phone use and how it impacts our lives and those around us. Without a doubt, cell phones are going to be a part of our world, but it is the responsibility of every cell phone owner to exercise self control and understand that a cell phone is nothing more than a device.
On the bright side having a cell phone makes communication and interaction much easier. We can reach people very easily now when ever we want to, unlike before if the person you're looking for isn't home you would have to leave a message. You trying to make plans with your friends? You could plan things within minutes by having a phone. Always stay connected with family and friends, staying in touch no matter where you are near or far. Phones are very helpful for long distant relationships, using video chat like tan...
The notion that the cell phone may one day become obsolete may never become reality. The concept of personal computing and communication (which is essentially what the smartphone is today) can never be defunct. Humans are built to connect with one another and we see instances of this throughout our lifetime. We are born into families, biological or not. We go to church to gather with our congregation. We’re sent to school to learn with other children our age. To eventually work with like-minded people, meet our spouses and have a family of our own. Our phones revolutionized even more with the bang of social media. The proliferation of social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram just to name a few, forever changed the dynamic of our social interactions. Through Instagram I can lie on the beaches of Cap Ferrat in the French Riviera with my cousin who visits there every year or I can open my Vine app and swim with tropical fishes in the Bahamas with my best friend Chelsi who loves the beach. In addition, cell phones enable us to interact with people we wouldn’t normally encounter. This not only permits us to learn from one other and the world around us, but we can help in times of need. In fact, during Hurricane Sandy our cell phones played an important role. In 2012 someone had the idea to create a Facebook page that bridged the gap between victims and good Samaritans
...s into our society. Generally, cell phones have served to improve lives, especially if used correctly. To an extent, life nowadays can be unimaginable without the use of cell phones, as we have come to rely heavily on them in our daily lives. As technology improves, the uses and features of the phones also increase, thus making it even harder to do without one.
Like the rest of the world, I cannot go a day without my phone. Try leaving your phone at home for a day and let me know how you feel. With the growing technology my phone is like my arms and legs. It is my must- have- can’t live without phone. It is my connection to the outside world. It is my connection to other people’s lives and theirs to connect with mine. The “cell phone” started out as a form of communication via calling and then it exploded with text messaging. Now it seems that most people would prefer texting then calling someone.
Cell phones have many advantages and disadvantages to them and I only named a few, but overall I think that the benefits of the cell phones outweigh that of the disadvantages that they bring. Cell phones have become a staple in the way we live our lives and without them it would be almost impossible to live the wireless lifestyle we are using right now. Cell phones are getting more and more technologically advanced as the years pass by, and that is why cell phones are needed in the society we live in
Phones have changed over the past twenty years and have had a positive and negative effect on people. Man kind as find many ways to communicate and stay connected with each other and the most common way is by a cellphone. Phones Cellphones have become one apart of our daily lives and some people just cannot live without them. In fact people use them more like computes than an actual phone itself. Most people let their phones control their lives and if their not carful it could have some serious consequences. Phones continue to get more and more advanced as time moves forward. However, in the beginning phones had a tough time getting out to the public however, if it was not for the first step into technology we would not have the phones we have today.
Since the invention of the cell phones, there has been a turning point in history because of its massive addition of technology. Without cell phones, there would be no such thing as using the internet on the go. The iPhone, Samsung, and Android phones are the most popular cellular devices today. A cell phone is a device with a handheld computer, simply offering Internet access, data storage and usage, e-mail, etc. They are useful for quick sources such as Goggle for looking up important information on the internet or using Google maps in the car to find your destination. This is one reason why cell phones are a significant asset to technology.
