“If Hussein's brutal dictatorship warranted war, then we might also need to invade Zaire, Zimbabwe, Syria, Libya, China, and a host of other countries” (Babka) . This is a common argument that has been brought up by others who believe the invasion of Iraq was illegal. However, the failed diplomatic policies of the United States are what led to the failed invasion of Iraq.
George W. Bush sent an invasion to Iraq with only Congress approving his “Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002”. However, he did not have the authorization he needed from the United Nations, therefore, the invasion of Iraq was illegal. It is true that Saddam Hussein was killing his own people, but the United States should not have invaded without solid proof. George W. Bush claimed that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction but none were ever found. (The Invasion of Iraq is Illegal)
In 1963, the CIA of the United States placed Hussein's Ba’ath Party in power. We were complicit in the birth of this regime through an unconstitutional act of foreign aggression. Then, in the late 1970’s President Carter invigorated that Hussein invades Iran, hoping to remove the Islam regime there. Hundreds of thousands of deaths occurred because of this invasion and we did absolutely nothing to protest these brutal violations of human rights because we were behind it. Hussein used chemical weapons in this invasion and nobody protested this either. (Babka)
In 2002, George W. Bush sent a letter to Congress requesting the authorization he needed to use military force against Iraq. In 1991, Iraq had agreed to a ceasefire agreement in which they agreed to eliminate their nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons programs. Thus, In this authorization let...

From a military perspective the regime was taken down, but they made no commitment to rebuild or secure the country.
