Abstract-
This lesson will encapsulate the interconnectivity of graffiti art in popular culture. Graffiti has been present since the early times of the Roman Empire and Ancient Greece. This form of art has evolved into a type of self expression and can be used as a way to communicate social and political views. Some forms of graffiti are considered works of art and others as an act of vandalism. Overall, the main idea behind graffiti art is an underlying meaning or message. Students will learn how a symbol that is so popular can be used to represent personal identification for all to view.

Motivational Activity-
I will pretend that I am a spokesperson for several local businesses in the downtown area. The spokesperson will be placing their concern on the spread of illegal graffiti. I will present a solution by giving each person their own personal space to create their graffiti tag. The students will be commissioned to establish a graffiti tag for the local businesses. The students will work together in small groups to establish a set of goals.

Differentiated Learning Activities-
There will be a total of six stations in which the students will work at. Students will be working in their groups in order to accomplish their personal task. The students are categorized according to their multiple intelligences. They are all working around the central theme of Graffiti and its connection to popular culture. Bodily Kinesthetic
& Visual Spatial Learners Students will use a variety of different width paint brushes to create a collaborative graffiti painting. Students will be given several types of communities (major cities, rural, suburban areas) that they will have to create a graffiti art that reflects the tone each community.

Intrapersonal Students' reflection focuses on how graffiti impacts the morals or values of society. The students will establish a list of positive and negative effects that graffiti has on society.
*One group containing three students.

Mathematical Logical These students will measure the space that is needed to create the work of art. They need to create a grid of 10’x5’ for the bodily kinesthetic and visual learners.
*One group of four students.

Naturalist These students will be required to digitally document illegal activities by graffiti artists. From their documentation they will reflect on the impact of how illegal graffiti impacts natural environments.
*One group of three students.

Closure- After the students have created the work assigned to them for each station, they will form a class critique of what each group has established about graffiti art. After each group has addressed their peers with their topic we will have a class discussion and create a list of challenges that can arise when creating graffiti art in a public
