Jazz is consider one of the most influential types of music an America History. Some of the greatest artist in the world have contribute to the success jazz have had not only on America History but throughout the world. This paper will explain the history of jazz, where it all came from and the effect it has had on the America Culture.

Meltingpot.fortuecity.com states the in the 1930’s and 1940’s jazz was at it all time highest. Although it is unclear when jazz first started some believe jazz started in New Orleans. Work it way up toward other major cities throughout in Midwest, such cities as Memphis, St. Louis, and Chicago have their own unique style of jazz. While the city of New Orleans was founded in 1719 by French men and for years was Ran by Spain. Until France took back control of the land in 1803, and immediately sold the land to the Americans as part of the Louisiana Purchase. The city of New Orleans brings a new perspective on life with the love of good food, wine, music, and dancing. The city of New Orleans was far from any colony of the U.S. with their old world cultural.

Nps.gov states the culture background of New Orleans played a big part of the beginning of jazz, because different sound came together to form the music of jazz. European was not the only race that was heading to New Orleans with many of the population consisting of slave from West Africa. Around 1721 West Africans totaled of 30% of the population and by the end of the 1700’s people of different African descent, both free and slave made up more than half the city population. Jazz change history the way of life and the way people put perceptive on life. Although jazz is not big today it will always be remember because it help lead the way for today music.
