College is a time period where students find themselves learning and experiencing different situations, while in high school one does not offer individuals with such freedom. College life and high school life are two different worlds. It is an opinionated expression that one prefers that college is a better learning environment that high school. High school does not prepare students for the real life, as much as college does because college gives more opportunities. College is more academically stable than high school in a variety of ways, reason being that one allows to design their own schedule, being able to have more hands on experience, and the professors are more passionate of what they do. Firstly to discuss, making a time schedule in college that fits one personally is always easy to manage. For example when he or she has a busy job they can work within the time period and make the adjustment due to their schedule. College gives more choices to one another by allowing students to take night classes which further their chance to succeed academically with less stress. For example, some colleges offer courses over the internet which usually havelonger, more flexible times for course work to be turned in. This maybe easier on people who have children or have to work a full time job. It is also sometimes easier for certain people to learn on there own rather than in a classroom with fifty other people. In contrast, high school has a time limit from eight in the morning to three in the afternoon from which students are forced to attend during those hours. It is a strict formality due to law until the age of eighteen because students that are under that age group are considered as minors. In college, individuals can set up the... ... middle of paper ... ...chers are basically forced to cooperate with students in need of help. They are blatant in their teaching skills because they feel the money that they are making is not worth the time. Certain professors on college campuses have a wider range of connections with other universities and they can help students organize and connect with other facilities. In conclusion, college is favored over high school academically due to the fact that students are more opened to the educational environment. This is the duration of when disciples realizes that they are running out of time and need to become more aware of what is stored in the future. In a college setting, one does not only learn a certain limit of knowledge, but acquires whole new information that is outside of the society. Personally, college is a priority to many people because it is a step close to one’s goal.
One major decision one must make after exiting high school is whether to go to a university or go to community college. In the article “Two Year Are Better Than Four,” written by Liz Addison. She expressed her opinion on the significance of community colleges in comparison with the university. She stated that community college do not receive the acknowledgment and appreciation that they deserve. “what’s the matter with colleges?,” (Addison 255). although, there is a lot to agree with within the article there are some faulty statements that two year colleges don’t offer the best education possible and that community college are more engaging and individualized for a student and the price is also much less expensive than a university education.
Whether or not to attend College after graduating High School is an important decision in a young person’s life. There are a number of factors to consider such as funds, grades, and other social issues that must be considered. The government offers different types of funding for students like Pell grants and student loans. Therefore, everyone is able to attend some college, even if it is just the local Community College in the area. Attending College is the supreme option for most High School graduates, which will enable them to earn their maximum potential income, while also preparing them to make well informed decisions throughout their lifespan. College can also help to improve a person’s social skills and provides a multitude
Many individuals went to college, not for the education, but to continue a tradition set forth by generations of family members. They did not take college seriously, for it was simply the next step, in order to follow through along the path that their family members had paved.
Preparing for College after graduating from high school is considered to be as one of the most thought by students. Even so, most students nowadays are uncertain whether attending college will be a good advantage for them. Some believe that it is a waste of time and money, but most people consider it as a reason to thrive in life. Unlike High school, College is certainly different because it determines your future and should be taken more earnestly by the students. College education is a worth of cost because it basically provides students with great benefits, which can be a good help in shaping their future goals.
Students tend to choose to attend high schools that are closer to their home, so they can have access to easier transportation. That being said, students in high school come from the same area. In high school, there are fewer clubs and organizations. Because faculty runs clubs and organizations, if a student wants to create a club, it usually takes a long time because they need the approval of their teachers and faculty. Since students abide by their parent 's rules and live at home, they have little to no social life outside of high school. In college, students are independent and therefore have to be careful of their
Also a big point that most students like to attend to high school is because of prom and all the fun activities they do at their senior year. As a college student you stop caring about things like that and start caring more about getting excellent grades at school so you could graduate. now that you have greater responsibilities you would not always have free time as other normal high school student indeed you would most likely have projects or homework during the weekends or during the breaks. But all of us know that we have to leave unnecessary things in order for us to progress
In Society today it seems that the need for a college education is at a higher demand. Years ago a majority of the population was considered lucky to receive a high school degree. With the way jobs are today it can seem almost impossible to get a job without some type of training or college education. Today more than 20 million people are enrolled in college. This paper is going to explain how a college education is greater than a high school education or a general education development (G.E.D.) in many ways. A college degree is far more superior to a high school education; a college degree will earn more money, ensure job security, and broaden one’s knowledge.
College makes students see life as a young adult because the student’s parents are not around while they are enrolled at a university. College will give people a feeling of freedom by not being around their parents when having to make difficult decisions. Students can do whatever they want to do without any hesitation. It will let students make mistakes and learn from them. Students being to make life long relationships. Students basically gain independence when they are out there by themselves with no type of help. Students that are in college can be exposed to worst things like drugs and alcohol. Students will learn that it is time to grow out and come to the reality of working and making a living of something. Also, in college students experience fraternities or sororities they can join unlike high school. Students learn that if paper works needs filling out they are held responsible for filing the paperwork out. The student has to make sure he or she has food to eat so they might have to eventually get a job to buy the food. Freshmans get to experience all the new activities or clubs that are at the college or university they are attempting to attend. The seniors of the college realize that it soon will be time to move out of their guardian’s house and start a journey of their own by moving out and getting their personal place. At some universities they have dorms, which sometimes be shared with roommates . Roommates
After going to high school for four years, college is definitely a step up. There are similarities, but at the same time more differences. There is still some required classes and homework, but they are different at the same time. Classes in college are bigger as well as the campus, class times vary a lot more, homework takes more time, and the teacher/student communication is a 180 degree change from high school.
One way to compare and contrast high school life and college life is student population. The population in college far exceeds high school enrollment. In high school the average number of students is seven hundred fifty and in college the average number of students is approximately seven thousand. Also, in college the authority figures are less visible than in high school. In high school, teachers restrain the students in all activities and events. Where as, in college the students are given more freedom to control themselves. Another difference is, in high school the hours are set in block form with no flexibility because the schedule is set by administration. College classes are more flexible because students get to choose what hours during the day they want to attend a class if an alternative is available.
College is somewhere where all the students keep busy with their work that is assigned and they seem determined to be successful and take their education seriously. There are many differences that I believe are the main points between college English and high school English. For example, the way teachers act in the classroom and towards the students, how the teacher presents the work and homework to the classroom, and just the overall way that the class is taught. The differences about how teachers from college and high school are pretty different, they always know what they are doing that day compared to some English teachers in high school that seem like they have no clue what they are going to teach us on a daily basis. They always tell us to be prepared and to bring all of your necessary utensils to school and be ready to learn but it seems like they should follow thier own rules as well and teach us something that will help us far into the future. I am not trying to make them look bad, but compared to how college professors are organized and know what information they want to teach their students so they can exceed in their academic achievements is totally different from the way high school english teachers present
Obviously, there is a major difference in the level of academic responsibilities between high school and college. In terms of expectations and responsibilities placed upon you in high school, they are more of a guideline and carefree, whereas college it is more complex and is individually based. What I mean by this is that in high school you can count on parents and your teacher in order to guide you in setting priorities and remind you of your responsibilities. It was part of your parents’ and teachers’ responsibility to make sure that you succeed in high school. Students have fewer duties to worry about, and fewer requirements where they could depend on others for help. In class, you are usually told by the teacher about what you need to study and how you are doing with your grades and attendance. Furthermore, in high school, many of the classes are assigned to you, and you are supplied with many of the materials and books. It’s an entirely different story once you enter college. In college, you have to set your own priorities and have much more responsibilities to carry out. Students ar...
Another area that high school and college contrast in is my attentiveness during classes. In high school, the instructors were strict about different classroom policies, mainly the cell phone one. It was prohibited for students to have phones in class due to all the distractions it may cause. I would text in class and drift from the lesson. In College, even though it’s more laid back it requires more attentiveness. I try not to text from time to time. I understand now that this may take part in the down fall of my grades. Eventually, being more attentive during class, and remaining consist with the “study time” days will help improve my grades for the most part.
Expectations are another difference between high school and college. Students are expected by society to graduate from high school, therefore stripping the need for knowledge and replacing it with a need for a diploma. In high school, one is expected to show up on time and is punished if they do not. Some high schools have a room called sweep, or something of that matter, for students that are unable to make it on time and are forced to sit in a chair and stare at a wall. Nevertheless, college expectations are not as strict. In college, students are not expected to graduate, but instead are projected to educate and better themselves with or without a diploma. The reward is a career, and doing what they desire in life.
High school and college are different in many ways. It is true to say that college is more expensive than high school. Of course, it provides a higher level of education, but that expensive fees make it hard for those that come from low income families. At college you also have to buy books where in high school you borrow them from the school. Paying for education can get expensive, but some people pay even more than imaginable. Some cities do not have colleges, so students that want a higher education have to move away to another city where they can get a higher education. This often involves paying for an apartment, food and transportation. However, the cost is not the only thing to consider when comparing high school to college. As college provides a higher level of education, the amount of homework increases. At high school, where it is more of a general education, the time spent at home doing homework is a lot less. This does not mean that in high school, there is no work; it just means that it is a lot easier in some sense. At college you can also choose from subjects related to your field of study if you desired. There are also some differences between the social environment of students at high school and students at college. Since college students have more work to do at home, they have a limit on the time they can spend outside of school.
