What is trust? According to Merriam-Webster’s Online Dictionary, trust is an assumed reliance or the character, ability, and strength of someone or something. My definition of trust is someone who can do something without being checked up on or being able to depend on someone. The focus of this essay will be trust. I will go in depth on trust at home, school and trust in general. Follow me on this journey as I explain why trust is needed and how it betters your character. Let’s begin…
Trust is needed everywhere you go. In my opinion I think it is most important because home is where the heart is. My heart is my family. At home, you have to have trust. Without trust in your own house, you’re like an outsider in a stranger’s house. I say that because when you’re not trusted in your own house then you’re going to constantly be watched and checked up on. That will make you feel very uncomfortable. Having trust in your home is having trust from your parents. When your parents trust you, it’s one of the best feelings in the world. You have a sense of responsibility and a sense of independence. You don’t have to be watched every time you’re on the computer and you’re not asked what you’re doing when you’re in the bathroom. (Yes I am making this a personal issue). When you have trust in your home, you have trust everywhere you go. You will also be trusted to do things outside of your home like go on retreats and movies with friends. This is why trust is needed at home.♫
Trust is also needed in school. Trust is need with your parents and teachers when it comes to school. Your parents have to trust you everyday as they go out to work and send you to school to behave and do all your work. They don’t have time to be at work worrying about if there is disrupting a class or doing their work. They should be able to go to work and be at ease. It’s hard enough working a job any ways. Your teachers have to trust you too. They have to be able to know that you won’t cheat on a test or that you will do your homework before you get to class and not copy someone else’s work.

If you have ever felt isolated from society, or feel that you are constantly begging for the mercy of your own subconscious, then you know the pain accompanied by expending trust. It is imperative for humanity to cultivate trust; if we lose it, we will simply degenerate into insanity. For instance, in the texts “On the Sidewalk Bleeding”, “The Tell-Tale Heart” as well as “The Landlady”, characters were tasked with uncovering the role that trust plays in conquering challenges. Trust is a trait one should obtain for the people they know are the most honest. To trust someone means to put ones full confidence and reliability on an acquaintance such as someone one is close with. In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Brutus, one of the leading characters put his complete trust in the people trying to tell him what he should believe. Brutus joined the conspirators to help take down Julius Caesar because he believed it was what was good for Rome based on what he was deceived. This resulted in the killing of Caesar and the death of himself and others. Not considering the right kind of trust in someone can lead to very troubling things. Trust can be seen when someone decides that they can take upon someone’s confidence and dependence then finally feel comfortable about telling them something. Trust is shown many times in the novel, for example, during the scene when Danzi saved Ping from the dragon hunter Ping then began to have faith in Danzi and decided to ask if he wanted to go with her to escape from Huangling together. This scene also demonstrates that trust can be earned overtime as Ping originally didn’t have any trust in Danzi as she was afraid of him. Children develop their basic sense of trust at very early age. If the child proceeds through this stage with the proper support, they will learn to trust others. Otherwise, if the parents are violent, abusive, or the environment they grow up in is not safe, then they will lack that inherent trust in others. Later in life, these individuals may become either criminals or the victims of the violence.

Stage one of Erikson’s psychosocial theory is called “Basic Trust versus Basic Mistrust.” This stage ranges from birth to eighteen months of age. According to Erikson, during this stage my parents were the main variable from which I learned to trust. They provided me love, care, and nourishment so that I could learn to trust them. In my particular case, being as though I am adopted, it was probably a little harder at first for me to trust my parents. Even though my parents constantly babysat me before they became my foster parents at three month of age, I can only imagine how much harder it was for them to create a trusting bond with me in the beginning.
The google dictionary defines trustworthy as “able to be relied on as honest or truthful”. As I read this story I realize everyman could not depend on his peers as for what he thought he could. To me I think this could be a life lesson story. Everyman found out that words are nothing without actions.
Since you have your own item, you will have to look after it with greater care than other possessions. With time also comes responsibility and since you have had the discipline to buy this item, your parents will trust you with more responsibility. For example, you will be able to walk home alone and go outside for long periods of time. The more responsibility you gain, the more trust your parents will give you. You will also be able to have opportunities you never imagined you would have the freedom to do.
My mother had me at eighteen she went to school and worked so she was only home for a few hours to be with me. The trust was established when I realized that no matter how much she had to work and go to school, she always came home. I am pretty sure that she was there to meet my basic needs in the beginning, but eventually she had to go back to work and school. So, I was mostly with my grandmother however, I trust my mother with whole heartedly. The trust between me and my mom I believe is a part of that unbreakable bond that a parent has with their child. However, my father was around and met my basic needs, but he lost my trust when I was six and he had a baby with another woman and didn't come around to see me and when my mom would take me over to his house he would pretty much ignore me. I still love him and to be honest I will trust him because he is my father and I am sure we will never let any harm happen to me. Trust is earned and can be damaged however with a parent there is always going to be that bond that make you trust them because they are supposed to want what is best for
What is trust? Is trust essential for the way we live our everyday life? Trust is a quality or condition of being trustworthy; loyal; reliable. I think trust is an essential way of life because you cannot make a relationship, friendship, a business, or an organization if there is no foundation. Part of that foundation is trust and loyalty because you should be able to depend, rely, and trust others that they will do exactly what is right for them and you. Trust can be broken so quick, it is scary, because once trust is broken it is a lot harder to gain back then when you first gained trust in someone. This relates to my life because my trust with my dad was alerted going into my freshman year.
