According to J. Dee, (1608), an English scholar, “There is nothing which so much beautifies and adorns the soul and mind of man as does knowledge of the good arts and sciences. ... Many ... arts there are which beautify the mind of man; but of all none do more garnish and beautify it than those arts which are called mathematical, unto the knowledge of which no man can attain, without perfect knowledge and instruction of the principles, grounds, and Elements of Geometry.”
Geometry was derived from the Greek word meaning earth measurement which focuses on the study of shapes, sizes, relative configuration, and spatial properties. Greek mathematician Euclid (300BC) was the first to officially organized geometry into four hundred and sixty five propositions which he later published in thirteen books title “The Elements.” Though he may have been the first to document geometry, it was believed that the practice of geometry began long before Euclid’s publication. Many great mathematicians have competed to contradict each others findings in relation to geometry, thus exploring new areas which have advanced the study of geometry. Such advancements have lead to the development of various types of geometry such as Euclidean, Non- Euclidean, Riemannian, Algebraic and Symplectic Geometry.
This paper focuses on the contribution and significance of geometry on the construction industry. Thousands of years ago, Greek and Roman architects created rectangular-shaped buildings supported by huge, marble columns. For example, the Parthenon has forty six outer columns and twenty three inner columns. All of these columns come at a price. There is less space in the building and the views through the building are obstructed by the columns. It was not until about 100 A.D that that the Romans did a little experiment with a new concept, arches. These Roman scientists discovered that when you put them together, they form a circular dome. This concept caught on quickly as many ancient architects began to build “domes”. They found that making a dome created more space because there were no columns involved. It is somewhat by accident that I find myself drawn towards the field of Construction Science. I have always enjoyed building with an incorporation of moving parts. When I was young, I started building toy cars, airplanes, dinosaurs, and everything an eight-year-old boy would imagine. It was like striking gold! I could build tracks, and cars with wheels to go on the tracks. I could even build towers with moving parts that reached the living room ceiling. Needless to say this unassuming box of used gadgets fostered a growing excitement towards construction and architecture. As my knowledge of the field grew, so did my curiosity about the assembly and preparation it takes to build useful assets like houses, hotels, even parking garages. I am pursuing a degree in Construction Science, which encompasses not only creating new spheres of urban development, but also a supporting a structure that helps a community grow. After attending Blinn College, I feel the need to expand my knowledge in the field of architecture by attending the highly credited University of Texas A&M.

Examples of geometry in everyday life are- in sport, nature, games and architecture. The game Jenga involves geometry as it is important to keep the stack of tiles at a 90 degrees angle, otherwise the stack of tiles will fall over. Geometry, a cornerstone in modern civilization, also had its beginnings in Ancient Greece. Euclid, a mathematician, formed many geometric proofs and theories [Document 5]. He also came to one of the most significant discoveries of math, Pi. This number showed the ratio between the diameter and circumference of a circle.
I also learned that mathematics was more than merely an intellectual activity: it was a necessary tool for getting a grip on all sorts of problems in science and engineering. Without mathematics there is no progress. However, mathematics could also show its nasty face during periods in which problems that seemed so simple at first sight refused to be solved for a long time. Every math student will recognize these periods of frustration and helplessness.

Digital fabrication is coming into the construction industry to create precisely crafted and complex buildings in response to the new competitive environment and construction market demands. Thanks to advanced technology, the good revolution can be seen in most industrial activities. Almost all of the industry sectors are trying to keep themselves up to date with new related innovation to boost their sustainable growth. However, unfortunately architects and construction engineers have been more conservative despite all of the massive global investment in the construction sector. This conservative trend was started many years after great prosperity and success in the other industries. As an example, in comparison with the more developed automotive industry, the construction industry has been weighing the pros and cons of doing automation, and it is still under development. Despite some limitations and lack of information over the 80’s and even 90’s, but the current status indicates good progress. Today, most of architectural design is no longer possible without computer technologies. The models have become more complex and require advanced tools to understand design codes and implement fabrication processes. It can be said, that the advanced automated tools with a user-friendly programming system can bring incredible solutions for architects and construction engineers. Many researchers have made significant studies to consider all possibilities and limitations of digital design-construction in various types of procedures.

The concept of impossible constructions in mathematics draws in a unique interest by Mathematicians wanting to find answers that none have found before them. For the Greeks, some impossible constructions weren’t actually proven at the time to be impossible, but merely so far unachieved. For them, there was excitement in the idea that they might be the first one to do so, excitement that lay in discovery. There are a few impossible constructions in Greek mathematics that will be examined in this chapter. They all share the same criteria for constructability: that they are to be made using solely a compass and straightedge, and were referred to as the three “classical problems of antiquity”. The requirements of using only a compass and straightedge were believed to have originated from Plato himself. 1

Euclid, also known as Euclid of Alexandria, lived from 323-283 BC. He was a famous Greek mathematician, often referred to as the ‘Father of Geometry”. The dates of his existence were so long ago that the date and place of Euclid’s birth and the date and circumstances of his death are unknown, and only is roughly estimated in proximity to figures mentioned in references around the world. Alexandria was a broad teacher that taught lessons across the world. He taught at Alexandria in Egypt. Euclid’s most well-known work is his treatise on geometry: The Elements. His Elements is one of the most influential works in the history of mathematics, serving as the source textbook for teaching mathematics on different grade levels. His geometry work was used especially from the time of publication until the late 19th and early 20th century Euclid reasoned the principles of what is now called Euclidean geometry, which came from a small set of axioms on the Elements. Euclid was also famous for writing books using the topic on perspective, conic sections, spherical geometry, number theory, and rigor.
