Too many people give up and settle for a fraction of their potential. Usually the strong people move silently; and the weak start riots. Regardless of the level of strength, it is always important to remember that in the quest for knowledge and prosperity, one must always remain humble and modest. The ability to live in such a manner will inspire and prepare one to become wiser and more mature. In my culture, we are caterpillars under our parents. Unfortunately, my father left to be with another woman when I was a child. The new woman would look down on my family and bragged about her family had travel the United States while leave us in Haiti. From that moment, my elders always reminded me that I am no longer a caterpillar. As a caterpillar, I crawled like those similar to me .I ignore my elders each time they criticized me. I enjoyed doing what I did; I was angry rebellious. It was fun, it was dangerous, and each day exciting. Though, just like many caterpillars change into a butterfly realized that I had a higher calling to be something more, and it took a tragedy like the Haitian earthquake of 2010 for me to make that change.

On January 2010, a huge earthquake damaged Haiti, by killing many peoples. Many believe that the earthquake was just another event. One of my friend said it was an act of “voodoo” because Haitians had made a pact with the devil to win their independence from France. During this time I was in my mother business, sat on the front talking to the client, suddenly I felt the house shaking, wow, It was very scary , and after four minutes , going to outside, I saw many houses , building collapse, I was afraid, scared. Thinking about my mother, I running like the win to see what happened to my house. Unfortunately, my house was fall in with my mother, I was crying, sad, but my mother was fine, she just break only her legs. When I saw my mother a live I was so happy, and very sad, by watching as a neighborhood house fall down losing all his family. I was felt empty, down, .I remember talking to an elder at my church one day. He told me that child of God move forward, no matters what encounters, obstacles.
