Prompt 1 What am I willing to die for or give my life to kept going on in my head. Finally it came to me and that is my faith. I have been going to church since I was a baby with my family. I have many strong beliefs and a strong stance. I have been taught many different things from the Bible and I have read things on my own. I do not do what I do because my pastor said to, but because I believe that it is the right thing to do. I have been questioned and my Christianity background has been too. All over the world, Christianity has been attacked. For example, one class that I took was world religions and the whole time the professor influenced the class to bash the Christianity beliefs and praise the other ones. I did not do so well because I did not back down on what I believe in.

I call them my Misty Moments and when something happens to other people, they tell me that they pulled a Misty today. Anyways, there is one moment in my life that has top it all off. I was walking to my class in high school with high heels and my instrument. Then all of a sudden I slipped and fell on a banana peel. I have always seen it in cartoons but it had to actually happen to me. Of course, there was someone that I knew ran to me to help but with my face beat read and me trying to act cool, I tried to brush it off. I told the guy don 't say anything and I don 't want to talk about it and got up and kept walking without making eye contact with anybody. At the moment I was so embarrassed because all eyes were on me and laughing because the fall was not so gracious. Now when I tell people, it is a very funny thing. The significant contributions of Pope John XXIII, during both his papal and Pre-papal life have had everlasting effects on not only Catholicism, but Christianity as a whole and lead to the sense of Christianity being a living religious tradition. His works include two Papal encyclicals, Mater et Magistra and Pacem in Terris, along with his work being Apostolic Delegate of Greece and Turkey. Moreover, The significant practice of Baptism has further contributed to Christian being considered a living religious tradition as it accounts for the premise of most Christian beliefs to be initiated, especially in terms of salvation and affirming the beliefs in the trinity and following the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Ideologies creates a sense of community, purpose and order. Similarly, I find that my religion provides me with the conceptual frameworks in which to ground my life. My life revolves around my Islamic commitments, even school and work is set around my Islamic timetable. So to me, Islam is not just about praying, fasting and so on. Yet, it’s also about my moral conduct, the education that I seek and my worldly actions. Growing up in a community that practices an Islamic lifestyle and culture has convinced me that Islam is one of the exceptional religions which stress the development of the positive moral and ethical. I was taught to live peacefully, help each other and also tolerate with other religions. Not only that, Islam also governs all facets of my life such as moral, spiritual, physical, intellectual, social and economic via the Quran and the Hadith. I also learnt the true values of my faith which is Islam is not only for the Muslim world, it is to be practiced wherever I am.
You can not put a value on a Christian education because it creates a setting of respect for God, His Word and His authority. It gives students a foundation of discipline, morality and a proper work ethic that can also be applied in other areas of life. Christians were actually the first to advocate universal education. The term university confirms this as it breaks down to “uni veritas” which literally means “one truth”. It was Christians in Europe who launched the first universities in France and the United Kingdom. It is ironic that so many scholars today are so hostile towards Christianity. Perhaps they do not know about the Christian roots of universal education for all classes and both genders or about the contribution of Christianity toward worldwide literacy, and higher education.
There has always been some sort of Christianity in history. Always new ways of doing things with each generation that comes of age. The changes that are made have not been with the conception of destroying the established ways but with establishing a continuity to preserve what is now and what is new. This is known as the preservation of type or the first note of fidelity of the existing developments of Christianity also known as the Principles of Christianity. All over the world, many people practice a religion of their choice. With any religion people participate in many rituals that show their commitment to their religion. Amongst the five major religions of the world, which are Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism, they are all significant to what people believe in. Each of them include rituals, places of worship, a God or Gods, and so much more. The five major religions of the world each have key characteristics that highlight both their similarities and differences.
Why anybody would want to go through life without knowing and understanding their purpose is beyond me, as is the case for hundreds of millions of people around the world. How is it that Christianity has become the largest religion in the world? It didn't draw upon the souls of millions because of its grandeur, but because of it appealed to something that billions around the wold struggle with. It proposed an answer to many of our lives problems. The church is open to any and all who are willing, and offer a place to discover the purpose in life, and develop a sense of self-worth and appreciation, which will then teach you how to live a fulfilling life.
There are so many questions to ask and so many things that don 't make sense to me because I will never be given an exact answer that is true for all. There are so many different forms of religion, stories of god, questions on if there even is a god, or what else could be the creator of the world? After taking this course I got a better insight on what religion really means to me. Religion is not only a sense of belongingness or what you were taught as a kid but it is what you believe is true to you. This is where truth claims come in. We talked a lot about truth claims this semester and the impact they have in different religions. A truth claim is what you claim to be true within a religion. Religious truth-claims express different perspectives on “how things are” suggested by Paul Knitter, a noted religion scholar (pg43). In a religion, what one claims to be true within that religion or what the religion teaches, is its truth-claim. I believe that one should follow a religion based on what they believe is the most true to them. That is what religion is. Religion is the set of beliefs and values you practice with a community in which you feel that you belong to. Now that I am older I have a better idea of what I believe is to be true when it comes to religion. I still feel a huge amount of belongingness with my church and I now have a better idea of what I believe in and what I believe is personally true within
As I sit out here alone on my back porch, sipping on my coffee and reflecting on this wondrous day, I look out at the beauty God created for His children to enjoy. This world is so beautiful and mystifying. How can anyone not believe in God after living in such a exquisite world? If I believe that God is the Creator of all things, I move myself from the center of my universe and see God as the most important being (Phillips, Brown, and Stonestreet, Page 10). Without God in our lives, we allow evil and ugliness into our hearts. Living my life filled with truth, love, honesty and compassion are the characteristics I will continue to pride myself on throughout the remainder of my life.
My tie flew in the morning wind. The only thing that I hoped was that I would not be late to work, I had been warned a couple of times about me being late. Luckily the bus too was late as usual. As I was boarding the bus I looked up for a vacant seat. What I saw then was quite unbelievable.
Throughout my life I have had so many embarrassing moments. The most embarrassing moment that will always come to mind is being chased by the game warden. I have had some close encounters with the game warden, but never this close before. The last time I was forced to call my parents to explain the whole entire night. Being in this situation most teen-agers would consider it to be a bad night, but for me it was more of a long embarrassing night. When the game warden was chasing me I felt scared, nervous as well as embarrassed knowing this night might not turn out to my advantage.
When considering morality, worthy to note first is that similar to Christian ethics, morality also embodies a specifically Christian distinction. Studying a master theologian such as St. Thomas Aquinas and gathering modern perspectives from James Keenan, S. J. and David Cloutier serve to build a foundation of the high goal of Christian morality. Morality is a primary goal of the faith community, because it is the vehicle for reaching human fulfillment and happiness. Therefore, great value can be placed on foundations of Christian morality such as the breakdown of law from Aquinas, the cultivation of virtues, the role of conscience in achieving morality, and the subject of sin described by Keenan.
