Although Huxley's novel is set in the far, far future, his predictions are coming into view much sooner than that. Technology has come a long way, and has given a lot of simplicity to one’s life. However, it comforted society so much that society started to depend on it too much. By depending on it too much, society allowed technology to replace the use of one’s mind. In Brave New World, Huxley predicts what is happening in today’s world and what will continue happening in the near future.

In Huxley’s world, everything is based on technology and the people that live there are pretty much dehumanized. And all of this starts in small test tubes with embryos inside of them. In this society there is a social class that everyone is manipulatly happy with. The people in this dystopia learn in their sleep, with headphones in their pillows. "Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm really awfuly glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid”(Huxley 27). This helps them condition and be happy with their life and social status. Everyone’s personality is the same. In Huxley’s world, they also condition infants by electricuting them to dislike certain things that may cause distractions in their future job. “The novel Brave New World shows that in order for a utopian society to achieve a state of stbility, a loss of individuality must occur”(Gehlhaus 1)

The community in Brave New World do not love each other or at least they don’t show their love like our society today. “We had Elementary Sex for the first forty minutes” (27). This quote is not that big of a deal for the community in the book, but the ...

All of these predictions are possible, and will most likely happen before or by 2060. We surely are becoming much like the society in Brave New World through the years.

The society described in Brave New World is to many, a frightening one. Though, it may be more of a reality than just a thought. Society, which is us humans, must make sure that science is changing to fit human needs, rather than changing the human race to fit science. With the increasing progress in technology, this may be an impossible action to overcome. The world may one day be without individuality, emotions or free thought.
