Every type of hunting ammunition is designed for different sizes of game. In fact there are several different types to choose from, but which one is the right choice? For instance there are many different ways to decide what ammo to use. Specifically the best way to decide is to choose by the size of the animal that is to be hunted. For instance there are three different size groups that all hunters can use to help them choose the best ammunition for their hunt.
First of all we have the class known as small game. In example, small game includes animals such as squirrels, rabbits, birds, snakes, varmints, coyotes, ETC... While any rifle will work for taking out small game, some larger caliber rounds provide unnecessary overkill. With that said, the ammunition most likely to be used on small game would be either a .22 caliber, or a .17 caliber, maybe even larger depending on the size of the animal. The first big issue concerning big game hunting is that it is considered to be the citizens' rights. Anti-hunters would believe that there is no right for anyone to take the life of another living creature. It would be morally wrong. The thought of going out and killing an animal for fun is just appalling to these individuals. Maybe they believe hunters will rear a generation of killers. They would argue that there are many other things in this world that could bring that sort of excitement to a person.
One weapon used in the Civil War is a Sharps Carbine. It was developed primarily for Calvary, because of the shorter barrel. They were much easier to handle on horse back than their longer brother the Breech-Loader. Sharps were preferred because they could be loaded on a moving horse, something virtually impossible with a Muzzle-Loader. Also, Breech-Loaders carbine which fired moisture proof metallic cartridges, where more reliable than rifles that fired paper cartridges. As I said be fore it is easier to load a Sharps than a Muzzle-Loader. A Muzzle-Loader took 9 long hard steps just to fire one shot. Even the most skilled solder could only get three rounds off in a minute on the old Civil War Muzzle-Loader. And No wonder. After each shot you have to (1) steady the gun on the ground take out a new cartridge out of a belt pouch. (2) Tear open a piece of paper with your teeth. (3) Empty the powder in the barrel and insert a bullet in to the muzzle. (4) Draw the long “rummer” out of its carrying groove under the barrel. (5) ram the bullet all the way down. (6) Return the rod back to its groove. (7) Lift the weapon half-cocked the hammer. (8) Fully cock the hammer, aim, and finally,(9) fire.

You need steel shot. Before 1992 you were able to you brass shot, but they changed that. They switched to steel shot because it’s a non-toxic metal, opposed to brass. It made the water ways just a little less toxic and when you shoot a duck and say you just hit it with one or two brass pellets. Well that’s not a fatal blow the duck could survive, but with the brass shot being toxic and harmful it would die from blood poisoning down the road which is bad for Waterfowl. If you hit the duck with steel shot it has a chance to live if it go away because it wouldn’t die from blood poisoning. When choosing your type of bullet there are a lot of considerations to take into hand. First of all you get steel shot but the best to get is either four shot or lower. Then choosing the velocity of the bullet you want to get something that is going to move out there at a reasonable speed. The lowest you can go is 1330 feet per second, which really isn’t recommended. Then the highest velocity that you can go is 1760 feet per second. What a lot of people usually prefer is 1550 feet per second, which is the happy medium. If you make the transition to a higher or lower velocity then it makes it hard to hit your target, because when the duck or goose is flying you have to lead it and it’s hard to get a range on how much to lead them when you switching around on what velocity that you are shooting. Then you have to take into consideration the size of your bullet. When choosing a bullet size you can have usually anywhere from two and three quarters of an inch up to three and a half inches. Using this weapon, soldiers could fire 400 yards away, as opposed to the average 80 yards (Robertson 50). Rifles were the fastest and hardest weapon of the time. Rifles allowed their bullets to be shot harder and faster towards its target. New inventions, used by the Union more than the Confederate, included Parrott rifles. They were composed of iron. Robert Parker Parrott, an American soldier and inventor, created these weapons, hence the name Parrott rifles. Despite its name, the Parrott rifle was actually a cannon. Hunting as we all know can be a very controversial sport in the eyes of the public. Hunting as described by Webster’s Dictionary is the activity or sport of chasing and killing wild animals. There are numerous different ways to hunt the same animal as well as innumerable different species of animals to hunt. Hunting includes trapping, shooting, and even fishing. Americans tend to hunt for the sport of it while citizens of other countries often depend on the catch of the prey to feed their families and communities.

During the early days of trophy hunting, dwindling numbers of some of the world’s most unique and prized wildlife was not a problem like it is today. When a trophy hunting dentist from Minnesota paid $55,000 to kill a prized African lion, he unintentionally reignited the heated debate concerning big game hunting. Wildlife conservationists and hunters debate the impact of hunting on the economy and the environment. Legal hunting can be controlled without government intervention, and the expensive sport of trophy hunting could generate a large sum of money to support conservation efforts.
In July of 2015, national treasure of Zimbabwe, Cecil the Lion was maliciously killed by dentist Walter Palmer. The hunt caused an uproar from many animal activists. The media covered the hunt and the aftermath for many weeks. This heartless act has many questioning why big game hunting is legal. Multiple African countries allow big game hunting, but it is harming the ecosystem. Many innocent, endangered animals are killed. Big game hunting should be banned because it lowers populations, causes further problems, and animal populations are already dropping.
It’s a brisk November morning like any other day, but today isn’t any other day, today is the first day of firearm deer season. Shots are going off everywhere like world war three declared on deer. I’m wrapped in every hunting garment I own but winters cold embrace always finds its way in. My cheeks are rosy red and my breath was thick in the air. As I raise my shotgun and pull the trigger, my heart races and my hands shake. As I race after my prize, the sounds of leaves crunching beneath my feet are muffled by the ringing in my ears. I’m walking face to the ground like a hound on a trail and then my eyes caught it, my very first whitetail. I will never forget my first deer and the joy I felt sharing it with my family. Hunting is a passed down tradition for my family and friends. Throughout the world, millions of people participate in the spoils and adventure of the hunt. Hunting has been a pastime since the beginning of man. Hunting is one of those things either you like or you don’t like. It’s hard to explain the joys of hunting ,because it’s something one must experience for his self. Hunting does have laws and regulations you have to abide by. Are hunting regulations benefiting the hunter or the animal? This paper will discuss some of the regulations and laws, types of game, disadvantages of regulations, the pros of regulations, poachers, and ways to preserve wildlife and there habitat.
A gun has a high muzzle velocity and a very flat trajectory. Normally a gun is used in a direct fire mode where the target can be seen and penetration is desirable. Good targets for a gun would be things like brick or earth forts, ships, buildings, and targets in tree lines. Howitzers have a somewhat lower muzzle velocity and arc their shells onto a target. They are used in both direct fire and indirect fire mode.
These purposes may include self-defense, hunting, and target shooting. Self-defense is the main use for guns. Pistols are usually carried concealed, with the appropriate license. A concealed carried pistol can make one feel safer when walking around a dangerous area of town. In other cases, a shotgun or rifle will be purchased to keep in one’s home to protect against burglars and thieves. In other use, most people buy firearms for hunting purposes. Hunting has been a tradition for many years. Hunting keeps the amount of wild game from being overpopulated. Furthermore, target shooting is a way to relieve stress and have some fun. Target shooting is a safe, controlled way to use a firearm. Whether it is rifles or shotguns, target shooting is good way to sharpen one’s shooting
I choose this experiment because I am a hunter and having an accurate rifle is a good thing. In hunting the first shot counts. Now here is my data I got from the experiment but first a little history on the guns the .234 is a small hunting rifle use on deer and other small game. The .270 is a med. game rifle for deer and up to small elk. The 30-.06 is a large game rifle for elk and up to moose. My problem is the I wont to find out what is the most accurate rifle is. My hypothesis is if three rifles are tested for accusey then what is the most accurate the .270 is the most accurate rifle because a lot of people think the .270 is the most accurate rifle so I am going to test it. So I some research on my experiment I look to be one of the first one to do this
