The ancients talked of a human body as a microcosm, or a little world. The world's most inevitable feature is the process of progress. The first bonfire made by a man led to the first nuclear power plant. Similarly, human beings also grow up from a helpless baby to an independent adult. We take tasks and complete them, which makes up our improvement, whatever the task is, moreover, people generally satisfy with an accomplished challenge, awarded with an improvement. As our world, we cannot improve in stagnation. Therefore, even our hobbies, the way we spend our leisure time by, should be challenging. For example, Americans tend to 'kill' their time watching TV , which leads to nowhere. While a task to accomplish might be learning how to cook or reading The Holy Bible being an atheist, the essence of any challenge is getting new ideas, which is impossible without communication and idea exchange. In order to develop ourselves fully in our free time and challenge our ideas and beliefs, we should devote leisure to one of the most popular ways to share ideas, which is the arts, we should take the time to gather others opinions socializing, and we should be able to increase our pool of selection in two previous tasks with learning foreign languages.
Spending time on the arts can help us broaden our horizons. An experiment conducted by a group of scientists of the University of Arkansas proved that students who were selected to visit the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas demonstrated "stronger critical thinking skills, displayed higher levels of social tolerance, exhibited greater historical empathy and developed a taste for art museums and cultural institutions ." Furthermore, the process of becoming fluent in a foreign language is quite challenging, since we have to work on our reading, speaking, listening and writing skills, the 'hardcore' players also pick up native accents and even rethink their way of speaking their native language.
As can be seen, by spending our time focused on the arts, socializing, and practicing our foreign language skills we are able to increase our experience and expand our knowledge about cultures and people, boost our confidence, exchange and challenge our ideas, build strong connections, and last, but not least have a good time. As Eleanor Roosevelt said, "If man is to be liberated to enjoy more leisure, he must also be prepared to enjoy this leisure fully and creatively ."
