How does the changing weather patterns affect sports: football in america is under some heavy restraints at the moment, the culprit being: climate change, climate change has increased the average temperatures in the last 50 years by 2 degrees fahrenheit, although this might not seem like much it is predicted that the average temperature is going to rise faster because of the thickness of the atmosphere only getting worse, USA is affected more by climate change because of its massive population and the high car count and factories pumping out CO2 into the atmosphere.
What is exertional heat illness? exertional heat illness can be across a variety of symptoms including muscle cramps, fainting, dizziness, crankiness, excessive thirst, being spaced out or distant, there can also be a variety of severities from life threatening to a few days of physical activity. exertional heat illness will always start of at the smallest severity but the longer it goes unnoticed and untreated the more severe it can get.
How does it affect football players in the US more than other sports?
Football players are more affected by exertional heat illness because there have full pads and a helmet when they train and 2 thirds of those football players affected by EHI were either overweight or obese football players also have very physical and long training sessions some lasting up to 5 hours wit h45 minutes without water.
Why is this EHI such a big problem for football players?

America’s newfound favorite pastime, football, came from a bizarre chain of events. Football started when a soccer player got fed up with just kicking the ball, so he picked up the ball and ran to the goal. His actions of picking up the ball and running with it fathered a new European sport, rugby, which was soon brought over to American shores, and was altered slightly, the shape of the ball and a few other small rules. The sport became organized into a league and produced the NFL(National Football League). The NFL had a slow beginning, but has picked up popularity, currently having a $9 billion yearly revenue.

Soccer is still the world?s most beloved sport, and will continue to be the number one sport for generations to come. However, North America is never bound to join this band wagon because we simply find the sport dull. The fake injuries, scoreless games, and long game lengths disappoint the majority of North America, whom would much rather watch other exciting sports. Because of lacking a long-time tradition, excitement during matches, and good opportunities for big time television networks to broadcast the games, the real football fails to succeed as the superior sport in North America. Paying $250 million dollars to David Beckham won?t do any good in promoting soccer across North America. ?Football? will continue to be less than a second thought, so long as we have these other terrific sports at hand.
American Football is a huge spectator sport where offensive and defensive players will use teamwork and perseverance to try and score more points than their opponent. Football is highly respected in America, where boys will try and pursue the dream of playing in the NFL (National Football Association) someday; but if you look at an average neighborhood, you will find that kids and adults of all ages love to go out and throw around the pigskin. (Lerner and Lerner 275). One thing Americans will take pride in is the college and NFL football teams they root for. People sit down with a beer and talk hours upon hours of football and two individuals can get in a heated discussion in the local sports store of whose sports team is better.
The American people not only love to win in anything, they live to win even when they, themselves are not the ones actually winning the game. The American people cheer with great enthusiasm when their team comes in first in a game, championship, or competition. To place anything less than first in any sport or academic competition is unfathomable, it is unappreciated, and frowned upon. Sadly, yet true the majority of all football players in the National Football League (NFL) see it this way as well. The USA is to blame for that. Football players throughout their careers during both on and off seasons, and practices are pushed to their breaking point, and most American people are unaware of the damage that is causes to their body mentally and physically, and the fear is that many of these players do not know the consequences of this brutally, dangerous sport.
Throughout the years, many sports have evolved from the beginning. Be it through rule changes, advances in the way people watch the game, advances in how they play the game, but the biggest one of all is the change in equipment. This is most commonly seen and heard about in American football. Due to all of the advances in the medical field and seeing the sports injuries that occur. Football had to adapt and change to the new standards of safety for the players with new and improved equipment to lessen the chance of long term damage.
Sweat. Blood. Tears. Fruit punch Gatorade. Many people all around the world play sports whether it is Football, Baseball, Tennis, Swimming, Wrestling or Track. People have come together and played sports since the begging of time; the Olympics unites people all over the world. However, once in a while shocking and sometimes fatal injuries can occur. Although sports teams prior to sports medicine have employed team physicians for numerous years, the field of sports medicine did not arise until about the 20th century. The first textbook on the subject of sports medicine was published in 1910 to help athletes avoid fatal injuries. Sports medicine is a branch of medicine that deals with physical fitness, treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise. There is danger in almost any sport and athlete participated in; sports have caused many life altering injuries and sometimes even death. Due to sports medicine becoming a new and growing health care profession, many injures have went undocumented. The common athletic trainer may deal with minor cuts and bruises, muscle cramps, ACL sprains, ankle sprains, shin splints and maybe even a broken bone; but once in a while they can experience extreme injures. There has been various outrageous and gruesome injuries throughout sports medicine history.
What is the physical toll of over-worked bodies, from excessive training? The physical toll of over-training is persistent or longevated muscle stiffness and soreness, persistent fatigue, elevated resting heart rate, decreased immune system, as well as increased risk of injury. There is a mental toll as well, you become more exhausted, the body takes longer to relax when the need for rest is important and opportune. techniques to combat this anxiety are breathing techniques, Yoga, stretching and even massage.
So the question of, Could a Millian state legitimately ban or regulate the playing (or the watching) of American football by rational adults? No, in a Millian State, the government could not ban or regulate American football. I personally feel that they could regulate American football rather than ban it. American football is apart of the American culture. They could regulate the sport to make it better and safe, but banning it is out of question. So in a Millian state they could regulate football because of all the injuries that are known American football. Injuries are prone and harmful in any sport, but in football injuries are more detrimental because of all the different angles people receive contact. The brute force of the game is what draws millions of people around to the world to come and watch. However, what millions of Americans don't see if the consequences of what makes the game how great it is today, the hits. With players getting bigger faster and stronger it only leaves players in more danger of getting injured. Concussions are one of the most common injuries among NFL players mainly because of the constant contact, and how the design of the helmet is to protect against major head injuries, not concussions. CTE is common in many NFL players, and most former NFL players. A study by the national institute for Occupational safety and health found that, “the brain tissue of 59 of 62 deceased former NFL players tested positive for CTE” also when studying, “the causes of death of 3,439 former NFL players concluded they were three times as likely as the general population to die from degenerative brain diseases,such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's”(Karaim). However there has been remarkable facts on how CTE has been found in NFL players more commonly than any other sport the NFL refuses to acknowledge that there is any correlation between player who played professional football and CTE. High schools should discontinue football programs because of the abundant amount of concussions in young athletes. According to a study conducted by the Institute of Medicine, high school football players suffer 11.2 concussions for every 10,000 games and practices while the rate for college players stands at 6.3 (Breslow). The nearly doubled rate of high school players shows evidence that high school football players face a bigger concussion risk, which can affect their developing brains and cause long-term symptoms. Although this was a big tragedy for American soccer, it has started to show signs of life again. Soccer has started to gain popularity again, with top players from around the world playing in America’s MLS (Major League Soccer), and many fans cheering on MLS teams and the USA national soccer team. If this continues, then, maybe one day, American soccer will return to its illustrious golden age.
Football is by all means an American sport. Since the day a baby is born in America whether it be a boy or a girl, one of the first words they learn to say is ball, and after a few months they add the word foot in front of the word ball, and by the time you know it your baby boy is playing football, and your little girl is cheering “Go Steeler’s go!” and without intention their cultural identity starts. As far back as I can remember, every year, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends would gather at my family’s home to watch this event called theSuper Bowl. It was something that could not be missed, because if you did you were considered a lost cause.

American Football was made in 1869 and was modeled after the sport of rugby. They took the basics of rugby and changed it to make it fit better for them. The game has changed over the years but it also affected many Americans as the tradition of Monday Night football has begun. The game has had problems with the United States government as it was said to be too dangerous to play, this lead to an upgrade in the equipment and they tried very hard to make the equipment well ensuring player safety throughout the sport.
The number one recommendation for American teams is that they should focus on building teams to which players and fans would be loyal to, and then they will build success and gain revenue in the process. This can definitely be a changing factor for sports in America.
