How Creativity can be Developed and Enhanced within an Organization
Creativity is just one of our many valuable human resources which enable a unique progression in every aspect of life while preventing the same patterns from being repeated time after time. Specifically within the work place when people feel motivated and valued, their creativity is at the highest because they feel a self challenge to be creative and make a difference within their roles. According to McShane and Von Glinow (2010), there is significant credence put on creativity to “find problems, identify alternatives, and implement solutions. Creativity is not something saved for special occasions. It is an integral part of decision making” (p. 215). When it comes time to solving problems and making decisions, it is important to create a sense of purpose and build a culture for people to be creative and think outside of the box to get results. Fostering a positive corporate culture begins with removing the obstacles around stringent policies and procedures, in such a way that people still have respect, loyalty, and trust, yet can be self-sufficient and unrestrained to do what they do best. We hear all the time that people are the greatest resources companies have, so investing wisely in people and how they are treated is paramount to the success of any organization.
To some extent, every person has a creative ability; however, some have an advanced talent for creativity more than others do and the environment places a big factor in creativity. McShane and Von Glinow (2010) claim “intelligence, persistence, knowledge and experience, and independent imagination represent a person’s creative potential, but the extent to which the person has more creati...

Sanofi is committed to building an environment that supports the freedom of creativity and innovation with their employees and wants every voice heard in order to make the necessary improvements to become a stronger and more diversified health care company. Bottom line, there is a point with creativity that depends upon your own individual motivation and passion for what you do everyday. This is why it is so important to do what you love and love what you do in order to receive the fulfillment and satisfaction in your role and contribute to the organization’s success through creativity and innovation.
New ideas can lead to programs and activities that are superior leaders in an organization. Creativity is what makes new ideas come to live in an organization, leaders often use creativity to keep the business running. The first priority of leadership is to engage the right people, at the right times, to the right degree in creative work. That engagement starts when the leader recasts the role of employees (Harvard Business School Publishing, 2015). Innovation causes leaders to have new ideas and work methods that will impact the organization in the future. A substantial leader will have an effective organization if they apply innovation and creativity to the success of the
With the scheduling of their parents, they have no opportunity to let their minds wander without guidelines. Moreover, the structure put in place has taken away the opportunity for children to develop their own interests outside of what others tell them. Furthermore, they are given countless opportunities to develop their knowledge without room for creativity, and hence become a shallow adult. She argues that creativity leads to the great artists, authors, and composers. Consequently, Quindlen’s argument is that scheduling has stunted children’s creative
In their article, “The Creativity Crisis”, authors Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman explore the urgency of the downfall in the public’s “creativity quotient.” Bronson and Merryman emphasize the necessity for young children to be imaginative. Through an IBM poll, they verify that with the decrease of creativity in our society comes an array of consequences seen in the work field. The authors remind readers of another reason for the importance of creativity; they argue that creative ideas can solve national matters. Hence, Branson and Merryman believe that original ideas are key for a better world. Though I concede that creativity is a vital key to the solution of many national problems, I still insist that teaching creativity,

In this article, researchers look at the assessment of creativity in job candidates. Creativity is essential for businesses to succeed. According to Amabile, Conti, Coon, Lazenby and Herron, (1996), consumer demands for innovation, reduction in product life cycles and fierce competition in the marketplace require job candidates to possess attributes of creativity. Amabile et al. (1996) defines creativity as “novel and useful ideas in any domain” (p. 1155). Examples of creativity are demonstrated by an individual’s ability to handle conflict resolution and utilize problem-solving skills. Furthermore, a creative individual is capable of being self-managed. Experience in working and leading teams is also considered characteristic of creativity (Malakate, Andriopoulos, & Gotsi, 2007).

Let’s start out simple, what is creativity? Creativity as described by Albert Rothenberg is “The state or production of something both new and valuable” (21). The definition itself seems simple, however there are multiple grueling steps to invent something that is truly creative. Creativity is not something that is made overnight, it is a long process with many highs and lows. There are going to be times in which you want to give up, but it is those who continue to work that end up being successful. The change makers in history are the ones who when time were tough kept their faith in their business and did not allow any doubt to creep into their minds. They took criticism from everyone, but they never gave up on their ideas, they instead stood

A lot of people these days lack skills which are needed in this environment and which are needed also to do your jobs two of these skills are creative thinking and critical thinking as Alison Doyle said “That even some specify that you need creative thinking skills for the job and you need to prepare for it for the interview to demonstrate your creativity” this also applies to critical thinking as Alison Doyle as well said that “critical thinking is required if you’re looking for a job and to judge something if it is right or wrong”. The first question that comes in mind what are these skills basically creative thinking is the ability to think about something new and create it’s like “thinking outside the box” and also it’s the ability to see
Creative thinking has been around for quite a long time. Today it has become one of the highest topics of discussion. Many times it is praised and encouraged, and it is rarely discouraged. People often ignore the fact that creative thinking can also have a negative impact. This paper will first discuss what two theories the creative process consists of. After, it will go over some of the positive aspects of creativity, and why it has been so often encouraged. Once the positive aspects have been discussed, it will then go on to discuss the negative effect that creativity can bring. Creative thinkers tend to be more dishonest, this dishonesty increases the chance that creative thinkers are more likely to be unethical. Creativity can lead to
(1) I would like to create an optimum work environment by demonstrating collaborative behavior myself. This will inspire my team to follow or model the same behavior (Gratton and Erickson, 2007). (2) I will also allow myself adequate time daily to coach my team on the basis of creativity and innovation to improve business performance (Coutu and Beschloss, 2009). I will give clear direction to my team as to where we are going as a team together. According to Coutu & Beschloss (2009) unless the leader provides a clear direction, there is a real risk that different members will pursue different plans. That is why it is important to articulate a clear direction for my team to makse that everyone is on the same page as we’re moving forward (Coutu and Beschloss, 2009). (3) I will establish a sense of community – When people feel a sense of inclusivity, they are more likely to reaching out to others and share their knowledge to improve effective collaboration in a creative and innovative way (Gratton and Erickson,
Individuals’ knowledge and effective management of their knowledge should lead to performance outcomes for organizations to realize value from these activities (Hult 2003). Along with how effectively and efficiently people perform their tasks, organizations are increasingly valuing innovativeness and creativity in their employees (Hult 2003). Their innovativeness and creativity are aspects that allow them to solve new problems and generate value and in turn help their team and organization to become innovative and effective in generating value for customers (Hult 2003; Janz & Prasarnphanich 2003; Sabherwal & Becerra-Fernandez 2003).
In order to evaluate creativity, people usually indicate the development of a valuable and useful new product, service, process, or procedure by people working together in a complex social system. One of most popular ways to approach creativity is applying integrated perspective on it. There are three factors having mutual influence on creativity: personal factors, environmental characteristics, and the nature of the task. This perspective focuses particularly on the intrinsic motivation of an individual in a particular context. It means that the willingness of people to do is more concerned than the levels and types of creativity they are capable of. The intrinsic motivation is a part of integrated perspective for involving not only the personal interests and personalities of individuals but also how interesting the problems or tasks are. This approach is very useful for public administration. It indicated that people themselves are potential inside and we can learn skills and knowledge to motivate our creativity and also support to other’s one. In addition, it shows that creativity located in specific context must be appreciated and promoted to operate work or solving problems. Most importantly, it recognized the role of creativity as a component of a larger process of change and
