From 24 B.C to 2014 Firefighting has changed dramatically, from the time it was introduce to now.[” The roman emperor Augustus was credited with instituting a corps of Firefighting vigiles (“watchmen”)24 BC). In the early years of firefighting there was only one way of putting out fires and that was with buckets and a lot of hands.(”Into early modern times a bucket filled with water was passed back and forth to put the flames out”) Other than the buckets there was other tools like the Axe which is used to get into rooms through the wall , for ventilation,and also removing fuel and preventing it from spreading.(“Another tool was an axe that was used to remove fuel and prevent the spread”.)

The london fire in 1666 Brought the very first fire brigades to firefighting, Which is an organized body of people trained and employed to extinguish fires.(”Because of the fire in London in 1666 the fire brigades were formed by insurance companies”).There are Two types of Fire Departments.There are volunteer fire departments which can be found in small communities, And there full time fire departments that can be found in big cities. For example in New Bern NC there is a paying Fire Dept for the city of new bern and then in the small communities like Fairfield Harbor, Bridgeton,and Vanceboro there are a few volunteer Fire Departments where the firemen and firewomen fight the fires and don't get paid.(”volunteer Firefighters are mainly found in small communities).

In the fire dept there are 4 different companies. There is a engine Company where all they do is put the fires out,there is a ladder company where the help with rescuing victims. the last ones are rescue or squad the help with going inside and searching for victims(”fire companies ar...

...an the professionals that are trained to put out fires there are professionals that are trained to determine the cause and the reason the fire started called arson experts.(“arson investigators are another group of people that comes to a fire to determine the cause of the fire, and how the fire was started.”)

Before the firemen and women there is a few people that have a higher position and higher responsibilities.These people are the administrators also known as the officers.We got the Fire Chief who is incharge of the entire organization, the assistant chief who is in charge of all the divisions, the division chief or battalion chief who is in charge of the training, resource management division, fire prevention, EMS, and operations.(Besides the fire men and women there are three people higher than them. The fire chief, assistant chief, and the division chief.)
