Jorge Luis Borge the author of the essay “The garden of forking paths” was born August
1899 and died in June 1986. He was an Argentine poet and short story writer. He was born in Buenos Aires in Argentina. His works shows a reflection of hallucinatory in all literature.
His works have contributed to philosophical literature and to both fantasy and magical realism.
During his lifetime he wrote so many books amongst which are Ficciones, Aleph and of course this particular piece, “The Garden of Forking Paths.” It is a story about controlling, unleashing and gathering survival techniques by getting and practicalizing ideas in the real world and imagination. Though the story began in a way that is more confusing but reading through it demonstrated a clear case of an indirect heroic adventure.
The main character Tsun demonstrated the qualities of an hero who was ready to give up his existence for others to live. His last minutes could actually be used for his selfish interest but he never did. He decided to give up his life in other to prove his point. Depending on different individuals. Although not every hero shouts “Avengers Assemble” before a worthy deed, heroism is shown in all aspects of the everyday world. Webster Dictionary has exactly 5 definitions under the word hero and still no two people explain heroism the same. Superman and Captain America are a glimpse of the fictional characters society titles a hero. Firefighters and Military portray heroism each day in the lives of every civilian. As Sullivan and Venter stated “individuals are referred to as ‘heroes’ for seemingly different reasons” and even through endless studies the adjectives referring heroes is ever changing.

A hero is defined as a person who is admired for courage, outstanding achievements or noble qualities. A hero is strong in mind and body, courageous in spirit, and selfless where others are involved. Superman and Beowulf both exhibit these characteristics. The differences between Beowulf and Superman are as obvious as their similarities.

On May 11th, 1904 a young artist by the name of Salvador Dali was born in Figueres, Catalonia, Spain. An artist who would grow and who works would impact the world. Dali has several museums around the world with his artworks displayed. During my visit to the Dali Museum located in Saint Petersburg, Florida it was an intriguing and informative trip into the artwork of Salvador Dali.
In the year 1881 a son was born to Don Jose Ruiz Blasco and Maria Picasso on the southern coast of Spain in a town called Málaga. At around the age the age of 10 his father because an instructor at Da Guarda Institute. A year later young Pablo was being taught by his father. In a short time he started writing and illustrating a journals. When he was 16 he moved to Barcelona and excelled at the La Llotja Fine Arts Academy and was soon accepted by the Royal Academy in Madrid. He was often regarded as a boy genius.
Pablo Picasso was born into a poor family in southern Spain in 1881. He started as a child prodigy and ended as the greatest painter of his time. Picasso received early training with his father, a small-town drawing teacher. Picasso showed that he had natural talent and had taken his father’s teaching to a new level. After some time in and out of sessions at art school in Madrid and Barcelona, Picasso spent the rest of his adolescence associating with a group of Catalan modernists who met and worked together at Els Quatre Gats in Barcelona. After some time there, he moved to Paris, where he quickly found of like-minded poets and painters. His work during that time began to attract serious critical attention and acclaim by the time he was twenty.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary a hero is an individual who is admired for great bravery or fine qualities. To me a hero is so much more than a person who shows great bravery. When I think of a hero many fine qualities come to mind; intelligence, courage, altruism, compassion and great bravery.
