Do you ever sit back and wonder if you are being heard? Or paid attention to? Do you just sit back and wonder, is there anybody really listening to what you have to say.
Have you ever had a conversation with someone and you were pouring out your heart’s cry to them and they showed no interest at all or did not respond back to you?
And you say to yourself or even out loud, “DO YOU HEAR ME…ARE YOU LISTENING TO WHAT I AM SAYING?”
Well, today I just want to share with you my heart’s story about wondering whether or not God was listening to my cry, to my prayers, and to my groaning.
I was in rough place in my life and it seemed as if I was left alone to deal with the situations myself, I might as well keep this real with you, I wanted to know if God was truly listening to me, I wanted to know if he was truly inclining his ear unto me, was he even paying attention to what I was saying.
Sometimes we can find ourselves in a place where it seems as if we are all alone, it seems as if no one even cares that we are going through and most of all sometimes we feel like God has forsaken us and left us to our own devices.
The Word of God reminds us that he promised that he would never leave us or forsake us (Heb 13:5, KJV). If we would just be honest with ourselves, we all have allowed the enemy of our soul to play on our EMOTIONS to make us FEEL as if our Heavenly Father has abandoned us.
About 2 years ago, I lost my job while living in St. Louis and then a string of things begin to take place….I eventually lost my apartment.
I ended living in the church for about 3 months. I married a man that I should not have married and all hell began to break loose.
My life was in a tailspin. I was having a hard time trying to fin...

...and answer my prayers. I now know that He will never leave me or forsake because I am His and He is all mine. I now know that in my distress, I can be like David and say this poor woman cried, and the Lord has heard me, and saved me out of all my troubles….Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus for delivering me and answering me in my times of distress. I thank you for giving ear unto my cry and hearing me when I call you.
Beautiful women of God, let us endeavor to make sure that we are in right relationship with God so that our prayers can be answered. The Word of God reminds us to:
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous man availeth much. (James 5:16)
Let us walk in the spirit of humility and love so that our prayers can be answered and to know that He still hears.
As I continued to chat with my pastor that day, I really sensed the hurt in his eyes – the anger that comes from an unsolvable injustice, the tiredness of a problem. “What’s wrong?” I finally asked, “Having a bad day?” Sensing that I was truly concerned, he let the truth be told. “I talked with a woman today whose baby died suddenly of unknown causes. As we worked through her grief, she talked about how numerous friends and family, even a religious leader had patted her on the back, shook their heads and said, ‘It was God’s will.’ I find few things worse to say to a grieving parent. Saying nothing at all would be of more help.” It was obvious from our conversation that he had an understanding greater than I about God’s will, and his insight created in me a curiosity and desire to learn more.
“One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say.”(McGill). The short story The Monkey’s Paw by William Wymark Jacobs has many instances of characters not giving their full attention when somebody was attempting to speak to them. When the sergeant came to the home of the White’s and showed them the monkey’s paw, the White’s did not listen to the sergeants warning of the monkey’s paw of it bringing great consequences whenever they made a wish. Mrs. White did not listen to Mr. White when he tried to explain why they should not wish for their son to be alive. Mrs. White rushed down the stairs ignoring Mr. White’s warnings of opening the door to let their son into the home. Listening more to people other than someone’s self is an ideal that has been lost in society.
Whenever I learned to trust and turn to God, I found His comfort to satisfy my soul. Almost two years ago, one of my best friends became extremely ill and had to leave home and go to a treatment clinic. (For her privacy, I will not say the illness). She had to immediately leave for she was due to die in two weeks if she did not find help. Whenever she told me the news, my whole world flipped upside down. My life had been pretty okay before this, just a few ups and downs. This was the first major trial in my life and I was not prepared. Of course, I prayed for her but I did not grasp the fact that God was going to save her. I was extremely emotionally unstable and I tried to fix myself on my own. This never worked, I may have had temporarily relief but the fear came back. One day I finally gave up trying to fix myself and turned to God. I asked Him to forgive me for not turning to Him first and I allowed him to fix me. I placed my trust in him and ran to him for comfort. Even when it was difficult, I knew I had to trust in Him. Once I placed my faith in Him, my comfort came. I had faith that He would heal her and she will not
God sees all that happens to us why does he not help us? God loves us
On earth, God uses various religious leaders as instruments of His love and guidance—chaplains, counselors, pastors, and lay leaders. It is through these instruments that Jesus tells the grieving that it’s OK to cry. God is with you and will protect you. He is your counsel in your storm. We are not orphans. Instead, as Christians we belong to the family of Christ, who will comfort the afflicted.
Jesus is Lord because he reunites all creation to God, but Jesus accomplished this mighty task by coming to be with us in our brokenness.16 I visited a woman in intensive care repeatedly over the entire summer. ...o someone sick laying in bed and it makes me fell sad. After seen a couple of patients and they were sharing they sorrow with me, I thank Jesus to let me share in the sick the sorrows and pain that he suffer for us on the Cross. In one occasion I was about to start a meeting with my spiritual director, I said to the Holy Spirit to help to se his presence o what he want to say to me in that meeting and indeed I really feel the his presence there.
When a person approaches you with conversation, they should always feel comfort knowing they are being listened to. I believe in this generation, even with myself, I sometimes have trouble giving my full attention in certain situations. These days people are so eager to let someone finish speaking so they can say what they want to say, rather than take in what they are being told and respond to it directly. This is something that I believe everyone, including myself should work on. Also, you should acknowledge what someone is telling you and clarify when you are confused in order to avoid making mindless errors which can lead to assumptions, or if you work in a medical work place even cause misdiagnoses or assessments. An example that many people may notice in their daily conversations of non-therapeutic communication is when one person is always changing topics during the conversation to something they’d rather talk about, or even judging others on their opinions especially before they can explain why they see something a certain way. This is a problem with communicating because it is more focused on one person rather than equal communication between two or more
I went to church in the morning and was told by a friend about a woman I had prayed for seven years prior was pregnant. I had seen a vision where this woman held a baby girl. I knew she would have a little girl. When, I heard the word she was pregnant, I began to cry, not because she was getting her promise, but because I was scared to death about my dream. I struggled for two weeks and then settled it with God. I decided I would handle whatever this storm was like Jesus had handled storms. Jesus slept during the storm. I told God I would trust him totally and simply rest in whatever was coming my way.
Do you like to talk out your problems with a friend? Do you like to hear other people’s problems? Why do we always need to share our problems with someone? The truth is, humans are weak. We’ve always known that we can’t live by ourselves. So, it’s not a question that we need to share our burdens with someone else. We want someone to feel what we’re going through. And we’re hoping that that friend of ours has a way out of it, right? Whatever it takes, we want our problems to be solved. Unfortunately, it’s not every time can we find someone who wants to hear our problems L. Well, that’s the way humans are. We’re not perfect. But our Father in heaven is. He will faithfully listen to everything we’ve got on our minds. He is the only one who has the way, the truth, and the life. Of course, He knows how to solve our problems and He will help us with them. Now, doesn’t that sound good? Well, don’t you want to learn to hear God’s voice? The question is…how does He talk to us? I must pray for the coming worship services and for those the Lord would have to be there. Often, I preach a message, then realize that someone who really needed it wasn't even present to hear. I need to pray about those who are our members who need to be there and also for the prospects we have contacted through the week.
My prayer for each and every one of us is that we start to intentionally learn who we are in Christ. But don’t just learn it with head knowledge. That’s vitally important but it doesn’t stop there. Then let that knowledge sink in and allow it to change you from the inside out as you learn to walk in the new you through the power of the Holy Spirit in your life.
To be effective listeners, the listening process should be incorporated into our lives. We should be attentive to what people say, clarify what the speaker is trying to come across, and respond in a way the speaker can understand what we are saying. I think I was aware that I needed some improvement in certain areas of this process but I feel as everything is slowly changing. In the future, I’m going try not to interrupt people, get distracted, tune out, and try to get a bigger picture of what the person is telling me. If good listening habits are applied in our day-to-day life, we can easily communicate with anyone and everyone.
Sweetheart, every day is an opportunity. It’s a marvelous, glorious opportunity to worship the God I love, we love, by counting you more significant than me. It’s an opportunity to bring Him glory and honor as we seek to walk hand in hand through life’s journey as He daily chisels us to conformity of Christlikeness. For that, I’m thankful.
