All across the world, in every kind of environment and region known to man, increasingly dangerous weather patterns and devastating storms are abruptly putting an end to the long-running debate over whether or not climate change is real. Global warming, or climate change, is the increase in the earth’s surface, ocean, and atmospheric temperature over time due to pollutants that are stuck in the ozone layer of the earth. These pollutants such as carbon dioxide and chlorofluorocarbons trap radiation from the sun that would normally escape the earth’s atmosphere. When fossil fuels are burned carbon dioxide and other heat trapping greenhouse gasses are released into the ozone layer. Humans obtain the energy to heat our homes, run our vehicles, power manufacturing, and generate electricity from oil, coal, and natural gas, which are all fossil fuels. Scientists are able to relate the dangerous carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to these fossil fuels due to the carbon dioxide’s unique finger print. Another reason for these harmful gases in the atmosphere is deforestation. Deforestation causes large amounts of carbon dioxide to be released into the atmosphere when trees are cut down. These trees that are cut down would normally help absorb the extra carbon dioxide, but now they are unavailable to play their role. The rapid increase in the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is causing the temperature of the earth to rise at a rate that many living things cannot adapt

Climate change is not a theory contrary to what many individuals believe and is in fact confirmed by major scientific agencies such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the United States. Global Warming causes are mainly due to greenhouse gases that are trapped in the atmosphere and cause depletion of the earth’s ozone layer. Carbon Dioxide is a greenhouse gas, and although it is a necessary component in our atmosphere as it helps plants perform photosynthesis, too much of it causes ozone depletion and therefore climate change. Carbon Dioxide levels in the atmosphere have increased tremendously after the industrial revolution, which indicates that the major cause of this issue is due to anthropogenic activities.
Global warming is a scientific, political, and controversial topic. Some believe it is catastrophic, a slow moving killer hiding in the shadows. Humans and animals breathe out Carbon Dioxide, often referred to as the greenhouse gas, as a waste product. Plants take in this CO2 and use it to make food. This is called photosynthesis. During this process oxygen is released which is then breathed in by humans and animals. This procedure is repeated over and over and a natural balance is obtained. However this natural balance is disrupted by human activity. People of the world are putting more than 5.5 billion tons of CO2 into the atmosphere every year. 75% of this is caused from the burning of fossil fuels. These fuels are burnt all the time to run factories, power plants and vehicles. The main sources of CO2 emissions are electric utilities, residential buildings, industry and transportation. The other 25% is induced by the destruction of the world's forests. The reason for this is that there are less trees and plants to take in the CO2 but there is just as many, if not more, humans and animals to breathe it out.
