These cute looking lazy creatures have more reason to live then there taken for. You may ask “Why the panda bear should live?” Or……”What’s they’re purpose here on earth?” Well truth is the giant panda is actually critical to our environment; this is because of the role they play in the bamboo forests. They roam and spread seeds facilitating the growth of veggies that other vegetarian like animals eat. The giant panda bears aren’t the only ones living in that same forest either. In the Yangtze Basin where the giant pandas live, the same forest is the home to a stunning amount of other amazingly rare wildlife. This proves they have a very good reason for being here on earth, they not only provide for other vegetarian animals in the forest, but they also provide for humans.

Giant panda bears are 99% vegetarians; this is because besides bamboo they only eat small rodents and birds. They’re on a diet called omnivore. They are also carnivoras, and are part of the ursidae family. Their scientific name is “Ailuropoda Melanoleuca”, ailuropoda means “cat-footed” and melanoleuca meaning “the large black and white kind.”

For a long time, scientists weren’t sure if giant pandas were bears. This was because pandas grasp bamboo stalks with their five fingers and a special wrist bone. They use their teeth to peel off the tough outer layers of the bamboo’s stalk to reveal the soft inner tissue. They also eat the leaves. Giant pandas are only about the size of a stick of butter at birth, and they're hairless and helpless. The mother panda gives great care to her tiny cub, usually cradling it in one paw and holding it close to her chest. Ways you can help;

Humans are hunting them illegally and they are taking their food sources for their own purposes. Humans have more to do with their extinction then most know, like when we travel to exotic places. When doing this we are most likely disturbing an animal’s home. Being in a controlled environment is much different from being in a cage, they are filled with others of their species and most of the times are left alone. This will help them reproduce and we can keep close eye on them to keep them from danger. Other ways to help, donate to wildlife charity WWF, you can also adopt a panda. There is very little that can be done to save these endangered animals. Also because of panda tourism is rising to an incontrollable level, professionals advise that tourists travel smart and be careful not to invade the wild panda bears.
