One person that has made a wonderful and great impact in late 1700’s and early 1800’s is the great George Washington. The biggest thing that everyone is looking back on is his Farewell Address to state what he’d hope to see his noble country looking like in the future. Some of the biggest things that has spoken out in his address and that the country has continued to do is being able to have checks and balances and not to stay at war with other countries and not to have political parties to prevent the arguments and not to stay in debt with other countries. George Washington’s Farewell Address, written in 1796, was a letter informing the citizen’s of the United States that he was retiring and would not seek a third term in office as President. Nine years after completion of the Constitution, 45 years of devotion to his country, and being up in years, Washington felt the time had come for him to decisively retreat to his home in Mount Vernon (Graff, 2015). Though he had desired to do so before the second term, he felt the country’s state of affairs were not yet in order. Included in his letter, he bestowed gratitude, blessings, advice and warnings for the still comparatively new country.

George Washington started off his farewell by telling the people that the time has come to designate someone as president but that he would not be running for a third term. He goes on to explain in great detail why he would not be running for a third term as well as addressing what he believed the nation should follow. George Washington gave the people advice on how we could be a great nation but he also warned us about situations that would be the downfall of our great nation, but did we the people follow the advice he gave us in 1796.
Washington’s farewell address mainly focused on foreign policy, but he does express concern for his other ideas such as religion and unity. Today’s foreign policy differs from what Washington had hoped for through his Farewell Address but, his policy today would have many different positive and negative manifestations. The public re-elected Roosevelt to serve four terms as America’s 32nd president, however, his legacy began with his Inaugural Address he delivered to the public in 1933. Throughout the speech he proved his credibility and authority as president, found a common ground with his audience, addressed the nation’s issues, and discussed the decisions he would make to fix them.

Washington alone has created multiple precedents that has become common practice used today. This nation has not been created alone by one man, but rather seven others. These key individuals were later identified as the Founding Fathers. There are too many things to list what each Father did, but what I can do is talk about three great members that made a memorable change in the beginning of our nation. George Washington, John Adams, and Alexander Hamilton are three people who have made the most remarkable additions made to our new country. As a result, these three Founding Fathers contributed the foundation of the United States of America.
