Definitions
Sustainability is the quality of not being harmful to the environment of depending on natural resources and there by supporting long term ecological balance.
Ecological footprint measures what we consume of nature. It shows how much we use to produce all resources we consume and to handle the entire waist we make.
Research Methods
During this process the research methods used were brainstorming alternatives for the school, investigation of primary sources and the Internet. Brainstorming ideas for the alternatives meant going around the school observing what can be improved and taking photographs of the evidence collecting most of my evidence and using the evidence as primary sources. The Internet also helped with my survey for I used survey monkeys. The internet gave me a vast amount of my information and helped me with my report. The survey that I had had given out for students, teachers, and adults to marked was designed form survey monkey. The survey was used to show who requests the school to be ecologically sustainable by having either blinds or tinted windows and tell what’s issues there were.
Primary sources
The primary sources used were the survey that was designed so the public decided what was best, blinds or tinted windows. Beginning with our current and so far to what we have read the topics about biophilia, sustainable urban development, and that of sustainable transport, I can say I have so far learned more comprehensively about sustainability and the subsequent movement back toward a semblance of biophilia, then I have from all my previous schooling. Taking into account how many years it has been since that I’ve had to learn/relearn and also that of the generational gap of information encompassing these given topics, and with my knowledge (and/or lack thereof) may be sparse in consistency there certainly is a lack of usable knowledge from that of when I was in the earlier years (to ease confusion this refers to the levels of k-12) of schooling and that of the known usable knowledge now. To start this essay I will talk about the influences that were/are important in my education, what has/is the primary source to shape my education, and my past/present educational experiences.
Sustainability is the ability to be sustained, supported, upheld or confirmed. According to UN (2014), “sustainability is the procedure of development which assists the future generation ability to meet their needs with present needs. The utmost practice of sustainability is in relation to sustainability development. Sustainable development is a forming standard for human life on a determinate world (d.n, 2014).

Sustainability is when something can be used and not be depleted, destroyed, or damaged past recovery. As we work to live sustainably, we are in effect making use of our resources in a fashion that doesn't eliminate them, and doesn't harm their source. Our resources come from the environment around us and we need to make sure that it is not harmed as we use it. According to the EPA, sustainability stems from a single principle that "Everything that we need for our survival and well-being depends, either directly or indirectly, on our natural environment” (Sustainability Information). Considering this, it's obvious why we need to make sure we live sustainably and do not damage the source of our resources, our environment.

A person’s ecological footprint is the influence a person has on the environment. An ecological footprints size depends on how much Earth or land a person needs to maintain their use of Earth’s resources. There are many types of lifestyle factors that can impact the size of a person’s ecological footprint. Those factors can include what a person eats, they could be eating meat, poultry, veggies and seafood which would make the footprint bigger because land and sea creatures are being consumed. Sustainability is a concept with a diverse array of meanings and definitions – a widely used glamorous, ambiguous, ambivalent and vague concept that is used by different stakeholder groups in various ways. Presumably to avoid noodling over a terminology or to avoid the confrontation with a definition, most widely the concept is broken down a planning process (c.f. e.g. Döring & Muraca, 2010). That is why most common sustainability is understood as sustainable development.1
Traditional research has broad topic, in contrast to action research that has a specific topic in a specific classroom, school or school district. This paper addressed both traditional and action research, their features and their influence on education. Within the paper there were comparisons between quantitative, qualitative, and action research and how they may be used within the school setting. As a result, educators and researcher can conduct research that may be used to make efficient and effective decisions to make positive changes.
Environmental sustainability is making decisions and taking actions in the interest of protecting the natural world, preserving the capability of the environment to support human life and ensuring that humans use the environment in a way that does not harm the environment. It also questions how economic development affects our environment vice versa.
Sustainable development means that the present generations should be able to make use of resources to live better lives in such a manner that it doesn’t compromise the ability of future generations to survive and make better lives for themselves as well. For sustainable development to occur, there needs to be sustainable economic, ecological and community development. Society needs to be educated about ways in which they can use resources, especially natural, in such a manner that it doesn’t cause harm to the environment and put future generations lives at risk.
Sustainability simply defined to me as balancing act between the development of sustainability is necessary for both planet Earth and humans to survive. This is reinforced in the World Commission on Environment and Development report (1987) that sustainable development must meet the needs of the present without compromising the well-being of future generations”. The Earth Charter Organization widened the idea of sustainability to respect for a culture of peace, universal human rights, nature, and economic justice (What is sustainability?, n.d.).
Sustainability is defined as the ability of a system, be it on a small or large scale, to maintain its way of life in regards to three factors; society, economy, and the environment, for future generations to come. To achieve sustainability, there must be an understanding of how these three factors are linked together, as well as an effort to balance them on many different levels, without any of the three factors degrading over time.
