I have decided to choose Sinar Harian website to evaluate it as ask by my lecture. Sinar Harian website is an online newspaper. For me, online newspapers can define as website that provides news and information about crime, sport, politic, academic, finance and many more to the users other than the printed one. Based on the definition that I get from the internet, the online newspaper or electronic newspaper is a self-contained, reusable and refreshable version of traditional newspaper that acquires and holds information electronically. People might think that online newspaper is similar like the printed newspaper but it is does not the same. The online newspaper is more interesting and user friendly. Users can easily click on the button provided inside the website and it will come out with many news and issues inside and outside the country. For honest, I have used it as my first choice in reading online newspaper rather than the printed one. The reason is because it is free. We do not need to pay anything. Yes, it is true. Other than that, there is a lot of information about our country and the international provided inside it and it frequently updated. The Pua that Blossoms Overtime As I sat at my desk one rainy afternoon, looking for some type of inspiration to finish my debate paper for my Political Science course, I unintentionally clicked on “Kaulana Nā Pua” by the Kuleana Project. I had heard this composition many times before in poems, songs, chants, and it was also sung once to close an event I attended. However, as the music played through my speaker, the tears ran down my cheeks. I knew this was exactly what I needed to complete my assignment. Kaulana Nā Pua is not just an ordinary song; it is a song full of purpose, breakthrough, and the process of healing.
There are five different criteria that should always be met when it comes to evaluating a website. These criteria’s include accuracy, authority, objectivity, currency, and coverage (“Criteria Used in Evaluating Web Resources”, 2014). Accuracy is deciphering who is hosting the website, if the website has stated the purpose and audience, and if the information on the site is reliable. A good way to check if the information can be trusted is to compare the facts found on the website with other information and facts found from other internet or print sources. Authority is verifying that the author of the website is real, because if the author is real then the information can usually be trusted as well (“Criteria Used in Evaluating Web Resources”, 2014). To check the authority of a site, the page should be examined for information about the author, note if anyone else has contributed to the website, check for contact information, and see if the author has created other websites with factual information. It is a good sign if there is contact information for the author, because it means someone is taking credit for the information on the page (“Criteria Used in Evaluating Web Resources”, 2014). If someone is taking credit, there is a better chance that the information can be trusted because the author would not want a bad reputation and to be held accountable for sharing false information. The objectivity of a website is deciding if the website is trying to sway the reader’s opinion, and if it is biased. If the advertisements on the site are being supplied by the author of the site, then there is a good chance the page is biased. There should be no bias or opinion located on a site that is supposed to supply factual information (“Criter...

This paper is going to explore the topic of e-democracy. As our society becomes more enthralled with technology and communication via the Web, it is important to consider what kind of methods and tools we use to communicate about issues that vastly affect everyone. Although some believe that there are positives and negatives regarding e-democracy, every subject is going to have pros and cons. Throughout this paper, I am going to explore what the “mainstream” media has written about e-democracy and both the positives and negatives of it as well. By using previous research, I would like to express why I think e-democracy’s positives outweigh the negatives and how society can benefit from such a technological breakthrough.
Nowadays, the popularity of these media is more to electronic media than printed media because their trying to dominate each other. A printed media have its own importance and popularity which cannot be replaced by anyone else. When though there is a tight competition between the newspapers and electronics medium among variety of newspapers increasing day to day which has made the print media cheaper, qualitative, informative and fast. The printed media is more accurate information details. The electronic media just hire people based on looks rather than journalism skills because the journalists and editor of newspapers are more efficient and experienced. The utility of print media will always remain informative to help the user. Printed media on deeper research of particular topic
Now that we are living in an ever changing world, technology is viewed as the most resourceful tool in keeping up with the pace. Without the use of technology, communication would be limited to using mail for delivery and encyclopedias for research. Although technology has improved the way we communicate and find information for research, the information is not always valid. Unfortunately, for those of us who use the internet for shopping, research, or reading articles of personal interest the information is not treated the same as a your magazine or book. While such literature is reviewed by an editorial staff, internet literature or information can be published by anyone. In order to reap the full benefit of having the use of technology for any purpose, there are five basic criteria’s one must keep in mind as an evaluating tool for deciding whether or not the particular website is a reliable source for information.
The topic of interest in this literature review is on whether print media or digital media is better than their counterpart. Print media is a medium used to disseminate information or news on printed matter (“print media”). For example: newspapers, magazines, books. Digital media is digitised content that can be transmitted over the television or through computer networks like the Internet which constitutes text, graphics, audio and videos (“digital media”).
Habermas (1989) indicates that with greater access to information approaches greater improvement of the democratic process. For the reason, this opportunity could foster the democratic development. In addition, the result of Michael and Keegan’s (2005) study corroborates a significant correlation between Internet freedom of speech and a common indicator of a nation’s level of democratization. In this information age, the liberty of speech on Internet can break the monopoly of traditional mass media about the political issues. Also this is the guarantee of the development of democracy.
Internet has been acknowledged as one of the most efficient way to collect and reflect public opinions, for that people with different classes and races can express their opinions with no obstacles in virtual network spaces. People can speak out whatever they want just by typing on the keyboard within a second. Dr. Heather Savigny mentions in her article “Public Opinion, Political Communication and the Internet” that “The expansion of the internet as a new method of communication provides a potential challenge to the primacy of the traditional media and political parties as formers of public opinion” (1). People realized that the power of internet public opinion in the focus on social issues can be used as a weapon to affect government decision-makings. However, does public opinion only brings positive effects?
