Everywhere you go, someone, somewhere is watching your every move. When you are walking along a major street or in a store and you look up you are more than likely being watched by a camera. In recent years society has seen the rapid expansion of different measures aiming to prevent or reduce crime. Surveillance cameras have become universal in many cities and countries. Originally surveillance cameras systems were installed to deter burglary, assault and car theft but their use has been extended to include combating 'antisocial behavior', such as littering, urinating in public, traffic violations and obstruction. These smaller, less noticeable cameras are used not only by the government but also by individuals and other private firms. During the last decade, law enforcement agencies in have increasingly relied on Close Circuit Television surveillance to enhance public security. An increasing number of U.S. cities have begun using CCTV public video surveillance as a law enforcement tool to monitor public areas, schools, and residential districts. Video surveillance can operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year without a toilet break, smoke, or lunch. It does not need a holiday, maternity leave and rarely gets sick. Surveillance cameras put a fear into people that their actions will be recorded and there will be consequences. Cameras catch shoplifters and people vandalizing property daily. Cameras also monitor traffic and catch people speeding in school zones to keep our streets safer and our children
