Despite the Hinduism religious environment that I was surrounded by, where good was the only investment I should abide to, I never mentally realized that I was instilled to place a border between the Other and I. Or what is commonly known to me as good and evil, right and wrong, and what I want to be and what I should never become. I should be dharmic (right-actioned) otherwise karma would teach me a lesson. I always knew there was an evil but that should never be me. The conceptual knowledge obtained through the Exploration of Humanities lectures created new versions of what can be considered to fit the pool of traits of divergence as it supplements Hinduism’s moral principles.
Richard Matheson’s I Am Legend makes the characterization of the monstrosity more blurry as Robert Neville attempts to keep his “humanity” and not become a vampire. Being the last human alive, Neville protects and shelters himself to avoid becoming what the world around him has become. ...n. An example of this would be if I was going to purchase a vehicle and I had to decide between two different brands. The cars both had the same quality and looked mostly the same. The only real difference was that one brand had a higher status in society because it was more expensive. If I were to choose the more expensive one, it would mean not only am I an irrational thinker but also that I cared about what people thought of me and wanted to fit in with everyone else. It is like what people would define as high school all over again. People fear of not only becoming what in the realms of Hinduism is not dharmic (right action) but they also fear of being exiled one from different status levels in society. Basically, there is no clear description for the Other. It can be but is not limited to evil, what we do not want to be, what we want to become, or what we fear.
