Youth transition is a term used to signify theory and research on a group of young people in transition towards adulthood. In understanding what Youth transition is, it is also important to understand what adulthood is or more explicitly how a person is defined as an adult. One key question is whether there is a universal benchmark to qualify to be an adult. Society provides an answer to this question, with varying degrees of structure and explicitness. The prospect in a women’s life course are also more discontinuous than men’s, as they are more likely to express career ambiguity than men, as they are more likely to leave employment when they become a parent (Moen & Orrange, 2002). By now the median ages for these transition are in the late twenties in every industrialized society, and rising rapidly in developing countries (Arnett, 2007). According to Pamela Aronson 2008 article on young woman’s transition to adulthood, through a series of interview she found out that young woman in college focuses on exploring their interest, talents and identities and delaying their transition to adult. She further explained that middle class woman focused on identity exploration rather than career development. This is probably due to the fact that college was considered a time to develop themselves socially and to explore their academic interests.
