The Getty Center, opened in 1997, is well known for its amazing architecture located on a hill. The museum attracts over one million visitor annually. The Getty Museum holds a large collection of European, American and Asian art works such as paintings, drawings, sculptures, and manuscripts. It holds a large collection of art works that relates to AHIS3 course. At Getty museum can be seen art works of notable artists covered by AHIS 3 course such as: Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cezanne,Claude Monet,Gustave Moreau, Gustave Courbet, Paul Cézanne ,Pierre-Auguste Renoir ,Edgar Degas, Paul Gauguin ,Edvard Munch ,Henri Rousseau, Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The use of color and space gives a sense of confusion. We can not really understand how far is the wall behind the young woman or if she is sitting or actually she is up. “Dejanira (Autumn)” by Gustave Moreau, a symbolist and mythological painting that depicts the Hercules wife that is about to escape. The mysterious background show it is Autumn, suggested by the colors artist used(red, brown colors). “La Promenade” by Pierre-August Renoir, an impressionist painting that depicts middle class woman and man. He used to paint together with Claude Monet who tried to convince him to use lighter colors. Doing this painting he was also inspired by Gustave Courbet, whose works he is was carefully studying. ’’ Starry Night” by Edvard Munch, an expressionist painting that represents a landscape during the night time in a city off Norway where he spent one of his summers.
