The notion of yakuza’s existence; one of the world’s most well-known organized crime syndicates, is very obvious and well-aware inside the Japanese society both in the olden and present day. They are very well perceived by the public. Yakuza’s confirmation of existence can be seen on several circumstances; for instance, yakuza magazine and video games, their participation in annual Sanja matsuri and the headquarters around the big cities.
First of all, one of the good examples of yakuza’s appearance in the public is the magazine. They are the underground organization yet they clearly expose themselves unlike other crime organization. They are probably the only crime syndicates in the whole wide world to have the printing media being published especially for them and people who are interested in yakuza. The contents in the magazines are mainly about their representation, story and ongoing activities. One of the yakuza monthly magazines is called ‘Jitsuwa Dokyumento’ or ‘実話ドキュメン’ in Japanese and contents such as yakuza story, entertainment news and even sex business are published inside this kind of magazine. There are also many differences between yakuza and normal magazine; for example, movements of yakuza gangster, columns about their lived experience written originally by yakuza, cartoon and short novel where the plot story is evolved around yakuza. In fact, readers can perceive the idea embedded underneath such as the masculinity, loyalty and the proud of being yakuza through the novel which leads to the good perception toward yakuza. ...can be identified that Thai people clearly make a distinguish line between mafia or bad people and good people. And because Thai society is a Buddhist community that praise good and prohibit bad people, anyone who repeat doing bad things will be excluded from the society as Buddhism teach people to do behave and contribute good things to society not cause it awful things. While Japanese people do not take religious seriously, it can be one of the reasons why yakuza is accepted and can openly reveal their existence even though they also do bad things. To sum up, the explicitly representation of yakuza as we can see on the video game simply reflect their being inside Japanese society; while, criminals or mafias are never allowed to portrayed as a good inhabitant to the public because Thai people do not fond of their existence in the society and want to get rid of them
