Acadia National park is located in Maine, United States, and is one of the oldest American National parks east of the Mississippi river. Over the years, the park has been known by different names. The first being Sieur de Monts National Monument in 1916, Lafayette National Park in 1919, and its current name of Acadia in 1929. The park includes mountains ( it is the home to the tallest mountain on the U.S Atlantic Coast), an ocean shoreline, woodlands, and lakes. In addition to Mount Desert Island, the park comprises much of the Isle au Haut, parts of Baker Island, and a portion of the Schoodic Peninsula on the mainland [2]. So, as can be observed the park in itself is pretty diverse. Although it is small compared to other national parks, it contains a large diversity of ecosystems, including freshwater wetlands, coastal tide pools, estuaries, several different types of forests, and alpine ecosystems. Many of the plant and animal species found within the park are considered rare or threatened [1].

It is a real and pressing issue. Climate change and global warming does not only pertain to national parks such as Acadia, Everglades National Park, Cumberland Island National Seashore, and Point Reyes National Seashore. Until we decide as a whole to save our planets, no matter how hard some work to save these national parks, it is effort wasted because even though the situation in the park is not helping; the real issue remains that the planet as a whole is suffering. However, in the meantime, certain things like reducing air pollution in and around the park can be helpful as air pollution is a concern in Acadia National Park because it is located downwind from industrial centers on Maine’s southeastern coast
