Over sixteen million people died in World War One. About ten million soldiers and over six million civilians. Later on this war was known to be called World War one. It was called the Great war because World War two didn’t come yet.I always thought that I would be with my family until the great war paid a visit. “Mark!” Called my mother,”go deliver the papers.”
“Ok!” I answered. I hated delivering the newspapers. Every Time I did I would get on my rusty old bike and deliver newspapers and sometimes it would break and then I would have to fix it. But each time before I would deliver I would skim through the paper and see if there is anything interesting. I saw this one thing and it was very interesting it was about conflict everywhere. When

Then I remembered that I had to deliver the paper. As usual, I would skim through the paper. I was so surprised so many people already died. Everyone was calling it the great war. So I wake my mother up and tell her that we have to take care of the house and farm.
“No Mark I have better things to do” yelled mother furiously. Mother was still angry that Father and Tim were at war. Everything left her mind.
About 4 years later I wake up and work on the farm. I knew how to work one because my mother taught me. Mother was not really worrying about father and Tim. I was reading the paper this morning and It said over five hundred thousand New Yorkers served for america, but about thirteen thousand died. I was hoping that Tim and father was ok.
“Mom” I said in a soft voice. “Look what it says on the paper, it says that over seventeen million people died in the Great war, and one hundred and sixteen thousand were American, and twenty million was wounded in the U.S. I was really surprised because that was the biggest war I have ever heard about.”
“You think this is supposed to cheer me up” said mom.
“No, I was just telling you what was happening in the world” I said. She didn’t
World War I was a very deadly war with over 100 million human casualties(deaths plus injured). Therefore war is a very transformative event for humanity, because it always affects individuals, societies, and even the world in a pessimistic way.
World War I is often regarded as the Great War. It was fought from 1914 until 1918 and it is considered to be the bloodiest war humankind has led so far. In merely four years a whole generation of young men was wiped out: approximately 16, 5 million lives were lost, even more were wounded, and the rest that had managed to survive was traumatized for life. One of the reasons why there were so many human casualties was the fact that World War I turned out to be the first trench warfare in history. The sense of permanent stalemate brought about great disillusionment from the romantic idea of warfare and the concept of the soldier was no more one/that of an honourable warrior but that of a victim.
World War 1...what is it? Normally when you think about it you must be wondering how on earth am I still alive! World War 1 was also known as The Great War that took place from 1914-1918 within most parts of Europe. Within this informative essay I will be talking about the features, the results, the end, and how World War 1 changed the lives of the Europeans.
World War I, also known as “The Great War”, was a global war that revolved mainly around Europe. It took place from 1914 to 1918. This was a very brutal war that caused many casualties. The soldiers who survived experienced severe trauma and mental discomfort. This trauma was a direct result of the violence and agony they experienced during the war.
War and Peace probed into the human essence and its search for the truths of life. Tolstoy focused on two men to represent and carry the burden of finding those ethereal values. Throughout the novel, he utilized numerous images, symbols, dialogue, and foreshadowing to advance the progress of his characters. Yet, his most effective use of technical device can be found in describing the psychological thoughts and interior monologues of the characters. Most notably, the thoughts of Pierre and Andrei served to portray their spiritual changes better than by what they did, and also helped to foretell and build suspense to upcoming actions. By doing so, Tolstoy furthered the plot and created a realistic world from which to study characters who acted, talked, and most importantly, thought as real human beings do in the same situations.
World War 1 was a deadly battle with millions dead, but do you ever wonder what caused world war 2? There are many causes for world war 2, but the item that caused an impact on the war the Treaty of Versailles. World war 1 started on August 1914 and ended on November 1918 it lasted for 4 years and 3 months. World War 2 lasted for 6 years with even more people dead and injured. So how did the versailles treaty help cause world war 2. The treaty of versailles punished Germany too harshly in four key ways: Territorial losses, showing how Germany is weak, and vulnerable, making the Germans pay, and the germans also wanted to destroy the treaty.
World War 1 was called “The Great War”, “The war to end all wars”, and “The first modern war”. It had many causes and a few repercussions and I will describe them in detail.
8.5 million people were dead at the end of World War 1. Twofold of the number were wounded, and several had to live with being handicapped for life. Several regions were threatened by scarcity. By 1918, what made it even shoddier was the destruction left by a deadly epidemic of influenza. As the flu swept around the world, it killed more than 20 million people in just a matter of a few months. Several unscrupulous things were brought from World War 1.
When the war finished people called it the great war because the war was revolutionary in many ways including military and economic ways mainly because the material costs were enormous. There was some twenty some countries when it started and grew to thirty two countries. People did not start calling it a World War until later when world war II started, when they notice that it was actually a global conflict. A few reasons why this could be consider a “total war” is because of economic factors, civilian involvement (social impact), and worldwide political influence.
World War One began on July 28, 1914 and ended with the signing of the armistice on November 11, 1918. The war cost a total of one hundred eighty-six billion dollars. The total casualties of the war were thirty-seven million, with another eleven million civilian casualties. The British Empire alone lost over three million people in the war. (English) World War One effected the whole world- the heartache and bloodshed changed politics, economics, and public opinion. This war changed people's lives, but it also changes their way of thinking and their way of writing. After World War One British literature was changed from simple stories to a more realistic and meaningful approach to life.
World War One or the Great War was a conflict that resulted in the deaths of more than thirty-eight million deaths. This confrontation began on 28 July 1914 and lasted until 11 November 1918. During this war, two main alliances played very important roles in the development of the war. There were many small and tingles alliances during this war, however the two main alliances that played the most important roles were The Central Powers and The Allies. These alliances were enemies opposite enemies and fought each other in terrible and violent wars.
There are many poets from this time who use these ideas a lot in their
July 24th, 1939. It was my birthday that day, I turned 19. 25 years after World war one. I was getting ready to blow out my birthday cake. “Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Johnny, happy birthday to you.” my whole family sang. They were all smiling with a big smile, that made me also smile. I was in New York at the time. I had never shot a gun ever. I had no military training at all. But later did I know I would be in a war in a month. August 31st, 11:32 pm. “You better get to bed.” mom said. I said okay and then went to bed. The next day. I woke up at about 9:30 to my mom crying. I asked what was going on “Japan has just bombed Pearl Harbor.” she said still crying. That day there was a man at the porch of our house asking if I wanted
The Great War: endless bitterness, rivalry and struggling. Armies situated in muddy trenches. Trenches full of dead bodies and rats. Poison gas attacks. Soldiers and civilians exposed to extreme physical conditions. Millions of casualties and thousands of destroyed houses.
War is when two opposing countries or political parties fight and a conflict is carried on by warfare on the land, in water or in the air. Most people in the past that were in the war would have most likely agreed. They might have even added what one general in the past had stated, “War is hell”. Hell is a place or state of death, torment, misery, pain, punishment and evil to its highest point . When World War One is compared to other wars fought in history it is sometimes said to be the worst war fought in history, but it does not fit the definition of hell. World War One may have included torment, misery, pain, punishment and evil, but it was not at its highest point. World War Two was a lot more destructive and the conditions that were fought
