They went in to fight for political, economic, and social impact the Great War had on the United States. Some things that increased during the Great War was manufacturing, production, and efficiency. It has almost been a month since WWI started and it is miserable. It is the most horrific thing in history. It has been almost 5 months since it started and it is December 25, 1914. I wrote to my dad today and I am positive he won’t write back because the war is so bad. I told him that “we all miss you and we can’t wait until you and Chris get back because there is so much to tell you and him.” A few months past and he finally wrote back. He said “I would find a way to write back to you no matter what. It is so good writing back to you and can’t wait to see you, I have missed you and the family. It will be a few more months until we are headed back to the states, but we are slowly packing right now.” I then showed my aunt and she started crying. She said “I just can’t wait either, I miss both of them so
The Generals and politicians thought the war was going to end very quickly where every I gets to go home on Christmas. Generals and Politicians said “A few quick campaigns and a few decisive victories would “bring the boys home by Christmas, “perhaps even by the fall” (Overfield, James H. Sources of Twentieth-century Global History. Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 2002. Print.) , p74. They were definitely wrong on that note. The war lasted 4 years in the hell the soldiers called the battlefield. One of the first major battles on the western front was called the Battle of Marne. The battle that halted the Germans from entering France into a long standing stalemate. The trench warfare started here, where soldiers dug deep into the ground and settled down to fight off the enemy soldiers. It was a stalemate for man...

The Central Powers were made up of Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, Germany, and Ottoman Empire. The Allied Powers were made upp of Belgium, France, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Portugal, Romania Russing, Serbia, and the United States. It began when Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary is assassinated by a Black Hand Serbian terrorist group member. World War 1 started when Archduke and Archduchess were killed while on a visit in Serbia. The Austro-Hungarian government blamed Serbia for there deaths. They sent Serbia an ultimatum. An ultimatum is a demand by one government to another to accept its terms or face war. Austria-Hungary wanted Serbia to 1) put down all hatred against them. 2) Punish all those involved in the assassination plot. 3) Allow Austro-Hungarian officials into Serbia to help crush the Black Hand. The Serbs agreed to all the terms but the last one. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia on July 6 1914. Russia, who was an ally of Serbia, started to mobilize its troops. France was Russia’s ally started to mobilize its forces too. Germany felt threatened by France and Russia so they ask them to stop mobilizing. When they didn’t Germany declared war on Russia on Aug 1, 1914 and on France the next day. Germany was planning on attacking France through Belgium that was a neutral nation. Britain had promised Belgium that they would protect them if they were ever invaded. So when Belgium was invaded, Britain declared was on Germany. Canada was part of the British Empire they were automatically at war. At first everyone wanted to go to war. They thought it would be over in a few months. Since the country was making so many supplies for the war everyone had jobs and money. People were going out and buying brand new cars and houses. They were buying things that they never would have bought before the war. Since most of the men were fighting, the women had to do the jobs that the men usually did. They even gained the night to vote with the wartime elections act. Without World War 1 it may taken women a lot long to gain the right to vote. The war came to an end th...
World war 1 was a brutal war that could have been prevented if Germany didn’t strike back at the assassination of the Arch Duke Franz. Once Germany invaded Poland the war broke out to a horrifying fight that impacted every country. The united states happened to have been the least effected by the war and actually grew richer by selling goods and needs to other countries. America was viewed as a savior of Europe. Speed up American industrial production and performance was better than ever. Leading to the economic boom and the roaring twenties.

World War 1 was also known as The Great War that took place from 1914-1918 within most parts of Europe. World War I, also known as the Great War was one of the most revolutionary wars in modern history. The war started in 1914 and ended in 1919 and included many advancements such as tanks and mustard gas. The Great War was one of the most deadly and gruesome wars ever. There were many different pivotal things that led to the breakout of war in Europe and eventually the world. One could see alliances escalating the the amount of countries in the war, an extreme amount of nationalism, and tensions over colonies and technological advances. All of these ultimately led to commencement of World War I.
¬¬World War One, called The Great War at the time, was a global war centered in Europe that began on July 28, 1914 and ended on November 11, 1918. The war was fought between two major powers, the Allies and the Central powers. The Allied powers, based on the triple Entente, consisted of the United Kingdom, the Russian Empire, France, Italy, Britain, and the United States, while the Central powers consisted of Austria-Hungary, Germany, and the Ottoman Empire. World War One was one of the bloodiest events in human history, with over sixteen million casualties and twenty million people wounded over the four years that it was fought. There are many underlying reasons for this bloodshed but some of the biggest, most significant ones include alliances, nationalism, and imperialism.
War is what keeps a nation from dying, it is the backbone of a country. This is the shown throughout the course of World War I, also known as “the war to end all wars.” World War I started in the summer of 1914. Archduke Francis Ferdinand, from the Austro – Hungarian Empire was visiting Bosnia. He was shot, along with his wife, Sofia, by a young man from the Black Hand, Gavrillo Princip. What were the three main factors that started World War I? There were three main underlying causes that started World War I: greed, nationalism, and militarism.
World War I, also referred to as the Great War, was global conflict among the greatest Western powers and beyond. From 1914-1918, this turf war swept across rivaling nations, intensifying oppositions and battling until victory was declared. World War I was immediately triggered by the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, however several long-term causes also contributed. The growing development of militarism, the eruption of powerful alliances, as well as the spread of imperialism, and a deepening sense of nationalism, significantly promoted to the outbreak of the Great War.
In August 1914, World War One broke out. The main cause of the war has
The United States has been involved in many wars since its inception. WWII in particular had a significant impact on the world and the United States. Through the years 1939 to 1945 the majority of the world suffered many tragedies and hardships. In total, 50 million people died including women, children, civilians, and innocent bystanders. Adolf Hitler, the leader of Nazi Germany, was responsible for a significant amount of these deaths. Hitler, aligned with Japan, wanted to seize all of Europe and Japan wanted to conquer Asia. A major cause of WWII was that Germany strongly disapproved of the Treaty of Versailles. Germany especially didn’t like that they had to accept all the blame for WWI, paying $ 6,600 million for the damage they caused in WWI, and they were only allowed to have a small army and six naval ships, no tanks, no air force and no submarines were allowed. Also, the Rhineland area was to be de-militarized and taken out of Germany’s possession. All of these conditions were written in the Treaty of Versailles. During the war the world formed two sides, the Allies and the Axis Powers. The Allies included Britain, the Soviet Union, and the United States, known as “the Big 3”. The Axis Powers included Germany, Italy, and Japan. At the end of the war the Allies were triumphant and the world gained its peace.
World War I is easily one of the deadliest wars the world has ever seen. Millions of military associates and civilians were left injured, and even more, dead. The war took place within the four years of 1914 to 1918. In 1914, when a Serbian nationalist assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, tensions had triggered in Europ. Austro-Hungary had then invaded Serbia; which then set of the start of a major world conflict. The war ended with an armistice on 11:11 on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, the signing of the Versailles Treaty in 1918 and an Allied victory. Although it still remains a mystery to what the initial cause for WWI was, three important factors were definitely the alliance systems, imperialism and militarism.
World War One was a war that would change the way countries fight their battles for the rest of time. The large economies previous to the war allowed countries to create technology, and weapons that would create more damage than ever seen before. There were more countries, and better technology which caused this war to be the most brutal in the world’s history. It introduced things such as airplanes, tanks, grenades, automatic weapons, and the horrific trench warfare. This was a war so destructive that President Wilson would stay out of and keep the United States neutral, causing an economic boom from selling weapons to European countries; until it was time for the U.S. to get involved. Money, technology, and the friendship of countries would end up in a horrific mess that would scar the world forever.
