The Hunger Games was an action packed romance novel that had just enough of each in every sentence. The Hunger Games was written by Suzanne Collins, New York Times best selling book author. The Hunger Games’s main character, Katniss Everdeen, had many obstacles to get through including finding out her love for a boy, Peeta Mellark. Katniss has to find a way to balance keeping her family alive and keeping herself alive. The main things focused on in the novel are action, romance, and how the two things fit together.

I’m running as fast as I can to set the last fire for the trap. I’m beginning to think that I might have a chance of winning the Hunger Games. If this strategy works and kills all or most of the career tributes then this game will be a lot easier to win. I am so glad that I have Katniss as an ally. I miss my family back in district 11 even though it was tough living there I still had a lot of fun with my family. I know I’m safe when I’m with my family and Katniss really gave me that feeling; the feeling of being at home with my family. She makes me feel stronger and less lonely. She helps me escape from the thought of dying in this arena but slowly the thought fades away and I start to feel afraid again. I remember that this is the Hunger Games, not just a random TV show. There is only one winner and it’s either I kill Katniss or she kills me, but I would rather her kill me. She has to take care of so much like her family in district 12. If we had a choice I would let her kill me. I thought to myself, what if I get killed before I even reach the place where I set the fire? Stephen Richards once said, “When you do what you fear most, then you can do anything.” Joseph Campbell has written a three stage theory that every hero in a story goes through, a journey if you will. Every journey is different, but it's always structured around his formula, a hero will: separate from his/her known world into a new one, they'll challenge opposing forces or complete a series of tests, and lastly they return to their world again with a gift. Going along with this formula I've gone through my own hero's journey, and succeeded.

Who I think I am? I’m not exactly sure who I think I am or how to describe who I think I am. I tend to act differently around certain people. Constantly changing to try to seek approval. Constantly in fear of accidentally doing something wrong; that I might say something wrong and all my friends will abandon me or leave me for someone better. I think this fear came from when my best friend was taken from me. I had known her since preschool, but she had met another girl and she stopped talking to me completely.
