At my work place, each member of the team is influenced and guided by the teams overall vision and strategic direction. We do have policies and procedures, which reflect the vision and strategic direction of the team. If we look at the governments vision‘Your health, your care, your say’, one area of this vision is ‘Protection’. The importance of ensuring, that there are sensible safeguards policy in place, against the risk of abuse or neglect as risk, is no longer an excuse to limit people’s freedom. There is never room for an "I can't" attitude. Striving for the best is the true meaning of excellence. One can set high standards for work, by putting 100% into every task. By putting forth the best effort, only the best results can be produced. By challenging ourselves in areas of weakness, self-improvement is sure to follow. Than the strategic leadership provides also, the vision and direction for the growth and performance of the team. Our team leader has the skills and tools for strategic formation and implementation of our team practice and successfully deals with all necessary changes. Our leader provides sense of direction, but also builds ownership and alignment within the team. Getting team members to think in the right direction, with the ability to learn and adapt at the same time, helps to ensure the strategy will deliver what it set out to achieve. This way of thinking, balances a focused analytical perspective, with the dimension of strategy making. The first four weeks of CR510 have prompted this student to reflect on her years of teaching in the public school setting. Having experienced many similar complexities to the ones in the text, this student is sympathetic to the challenges facing those in the education system and is eager to find opportunities to offer a better solution for all involved. CR510 has strengthened this student's belief that a third party neutral can provide valuable benefits to educational systems at all levels.
As the work environments grow more complex there is more required of a leader. In times of crisis a true leader must be able to resolve conflicts and maintain organizational growth. Leadership is not about just being in a position of authority, it is the ability to understand your employees and customers as well as understanding the market that the organization is in. As a leader I must be able to make tough decisions and always encourage employees to better themselves. On top of keeping a cool head while discovering the best methods to communicate, align common goals and learn from past errors. Focus on Your Team- So often as a society, we only think about our own success that we will do anything to achieve it. Working in teams is often difficult since you are required to adjust to doing what’s best for the team as compared what is best for yourself. Reading the Earnest Shackleton case study was truly inspiring, for we saw how dedicated Earnest was to making sure his crew was happy and healthy. He would forgo food so his crew would be able to eat, and he spent time entertaining them so their spirits wouldn’t be diminished. This display of dedication and perseverance is what every leader should keep in mind when leading their teams. Up until this year, before taking the class intermediate composition, I thought I was a terrible writer. I was right. Writing isn’t something that I enjoy doing, nor am I good at. Writing is difficult for me because I’m not very good at explaining things in a professional manner, that can be easily well written. While writing you are expected to make little to no mistakes, which is not something I’m great at. I am so much better at explaining things with verbal words rather than written words.
