I believe Jack is brave because he he doesn’t care what other people think, chooses August over popularity, and he stands up for August. R1Jack doesn’t care what other people think.     From the beginning of the novel Jack intimidates the other boys with his flaming red hair, his long black cape, and the brutal way he shouts orders to his choir.
