Why Women Should Not Fight on the Frontlines
What happened to men putting women and children first? Our society has always heard and grown up around men going to war to keep women and children safe, but now there is talk about letting women fight on the frontlines with men. This contradicts what our society has grown up knowing. There are women in the military helping out with many things like cooking, cleaning, tending to men with injuries, etc. Our nation needs women for all these important jobs but do we really need them to fight in combat? How would men respond to having to work alongside with men? How would women fight compared to men? Women should not fight on the frontlines along side of men for many reasons, especially because women are naturally weaker than men.
Since the beginning of time, humans, have been raised in very similar ways. One way our society has been raised similar, is the way people view men and women. Our society has always said that women and children come first. In the biblical stories, men had the job to be leaders, fighters, and warriors. Women would bear and raise children, cook, farm, and anything else that was home-related (Sherrow). Most of our nation has grown up in church and heard multiple bible stories. We hear the stories of God doing amazing things through men, like David and Goliath. God also did great things through women as well, but in a very different way. One example of what God did through women is when he sent his only son to be born of a virgin, Mary. What God does through men is just as important as what he does through women. Since the beginning, men and women have been doing very important but different jobs.

There would be a few women that would be strong enough but we have to think of the compatibility of the whole unit and how they would react to each other (Weathers 4). We don’t want the men or women feeling uncomfortable while fighting for our freedom. If the men feel like the women would slow them down then we unquestionably don’t need to have women fight on the frontlines. Women should not fight on the frontlines because of equality with men, war is not about being equal. There are some good points about women fighting on the frontlines alongside men but there are more cons than pros. Women should not fight on the frontlines along side of men for many reasons, especially because women are naturally weaker than men.
