Wind Power: Advantages And Disadvantages Of Power And Wind Energy

When the sun shines, it heats the Earth. The heating on the surfaces of the Earth are uneven. Some areas heat up more than other areas. The atmosphere in hotter regions rise up and cooler atmosphere rushes in to fill this void. This creates wind.

Wind turbines, similar to windmills are used to change wind into electricity. The wind turns the blades on the wind turbine, which spins a shaft, which is connected to a generator and make electricity. A small wind turbine makes enough energy for a house.
On the picture on the left, is how wind energy gets to your house. The wind turbines change the kinetic energy of the air into electrical energy to make electricity.
First, the electricity made by wind energy leaves the generator on wires underground, and or on power lines on land. This high voltage electrical energy is carried across the country through a national network of transmission lines. Before electricity reduces, it lowers down to 120 volts where it can operate the appliances in your house. After that, you can use the electricity in your home. You might think this is a long way to transport wind electricity to another place. In some cases, the wind turbine does not have to travel far to your home, because anyone can build a wind turbine on his or her property.

Advantages and disadvantages

As long as the sun shines, there will be wind on the Earth. We will never run out of wind energy. It is also free, since no one can own the sun or the air. Wind is a clean source of energy, and overall, the use of wind for energy has fewer environmental impacts than using many other energy sources. Wind turbines are a great choice to convert wind into electricity. They do not release emissions that pollute th...

...bines now; Offshore wind turbines. Although they can disturb wild life, cost a lot, and need plenty of researching, I think it's a great idea. As I addressed before, they work most of the time and provide lots of electricity with natural resources. I do care about the wild life, cost, and just people’s complains. First of all, the wind turbine can be placed at a great distance to reduce the visual impact from the land. Second, it is said that noise is a problem and disturbs wild life. Well, people have been studying and creating turbines with lower sounds. Also we can research and plan a place where there are fewer animals and doesn’t affect much. Lastly, wind turbines are not the only “Loud noise” machine on the sea. Ships, boats, engines, and all the other machines that are loud have been used for a long time now, so I wondered why it became an issue now.
