The simplest online database that could possibly work is wiki. Wiki allows users to use freely for creating and editing. In addition, wikis among group communication can allow the organization of contributions for editing in the content itself. Therefore, in my essay I am going to write about the definition of wiki, who uses wikis?, the types of wiki, what are the downsides ? And what are the significant of it?

The word "wiki" which means "fast" in the Hawaiian language. It is a piece of server software used to create a website that can allow users to freely create and edit by multiple individuals from any web browser. Also, one famous wiki is ]9web-based collaborative encyclopedia called Wikipedia was launched in January 2001. Moreover, Wiki was side-project of Nupedia by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger. Wiki is the most popular on the public web in terms of page views. In addition, wiki is web application that allows multiple people to easily contribute to the same document and they can add, modify, or delete to that document. Moreover, it is server program that allows users to collaborate for forming the content of web site. Also, it can provide many different purposes both public and private such as, editing rights may permit changing, adding or removing content online easily, and knowledge management systems. Moreover, wikis include features such as access rights management and notifications. Also, wiki has management component that allow people to accept or reject changes. Wikis also make it easy to search or browse for information. Although, wikis can also include texts, images, sound recordings and films. Finally, Wiki's can be protected by using a password, but that doesn't mean someone can't hack or inter into it.

In conclusion, Wiki is a useful tool that allows people from around the world to collaborate on a single project. The platform can be hard to learn but once you have it can be used for Educational, Information and Publishing by anyone. In my mind, the characteristics of a wiki are, easy collaborative document editing and creating, ability to update content and ability to find content through searching and browsing. Beside, wiki has downside that anyone can edit web sites so, there is no privacy. It requires internet connectivity to collaborate with others.
