Practicing the religion of Wicca is still overlooked in the 21st-century. There is a stigma involving witchcraft that revolves around magic, which is false because Wicca is a religion that people stand by to follow a set of rules. These regulations consist of knowing what can be or cannot be done. Since people tend to think witchcraft is magic, one associates the religion with technology. Wicca and technology are two different subjects. The origin of technology is only science. There was never a connection found between witchcraft and technology. The difference between what magic, what people are familiar with, and "magick' is that magic is a form of conjuring to entertain an audience. "Finally, Wiccans practice magick in an attempt to manipulate the natural world and alter mental and material conditions. The point the article is trying to make is that witches use magick as a way to manipulate their current situation to find the best outcome. Through nature, witches use herbs to be able to treat the sick. They hold ceremonies where they can induce potions made from the root. These gatherings are significant as described "In all Wiccan/nature religions there is a presumed cause-and-effect relationship between the ritual or ceremony performed and the obtaining of the power of healing or other blessing sought. Within Wicca, there is a constant connection between one as an individual and the religion. As for technology, everything is scientific and manufactured. The way in which technology helps the sick is through machines and prescribed drugs. When one is sick, it is not unusual for them to visit their doctors. These doctors use vaccines made from mechanisms to fight viruses within the person's body. When they do not give them a vaccine, they prescribe drugs. The flaw with this method is that there are multiple side effects. These side effects make people feel even worse. Over time the world and society have both changed tremendously and one thing that has changed with that is the idea of Witchcraft. Witchcraft has never been prosperous but has been around ever since society has had any written records of time. Different societies and areas all experienced Witchcraft and were driven by the same motives like naivety and fear. What images come to mind when you think of witches? Many people immediately imagine a black pointy hat, bubbling cauldron, green warty skin, and Halloween. Usually the image that comes to mind is something scary and evil. Real witches do exist. Most modern witches go by the label Wiccan now. Wiccans practice Wicca, which is a nature-based religion with many different branches or denominations. The basic tenant of all Wicca is called the Three Fold Law. The Three Fold Law states that whatever you do will come back to you times three, good or bad, so do not cause harm or, in other words, “harm none”. It is kind of like the concept of karma in one lifetime. There is debate over how old the religion actually is with some saying that it is an ancient religion that pre-dates Christianity and some saying it is more modern, starting in the 1950’s with Gerald Gardener. Regardless of how old the religion is, Hollywood’s portrayal of witches often does have some kernel of truth, albeit sometimes it is hard to find.

Many People believe that witchcraft implies the ability to injure or using supernatural power to harm others. People believed that a witch represents dark side of female present and were more likely to embrace witchcraft than men. It starts out with some kind of cosmic force from darkness. When I watched the video “Wiccan Creation”, I realized that many religions start off with the creation in darkness and then there is that spirit or force that ignites. “The world was in darkness and from this nothingness, a spirit created our lady. The lady dance and give birth to the stars and planets and with her joy and love she created trees and flowers (“Wiccan Creation, 2011). The Wicca’s creation story does not stop there. The controversies that surround Wicca start with its exact origin. There are some who believe that it has its origins in Witchcraft due to the similarities between the two. Witchcraft itself is a Pagan practice [polytheistic and non-Christian, Muslim and Jewish in origin] that began with the Celts around 700 B.C. As the movie The Burning Times depicts, the region during this time period was primarily a rural culture so the Celtic traditions were based completely on Nature. Early colonization of America led to the merging and changing in the ideas of witchcraft by the Europeans, Native Americans, Spanish, and British. These ideas took the lives of many, but they shaped the past so the present may be as it is today.
Witchcraft is said to be the most widespread cultural phenomenon in existence today and throughout history. Even those who shun the ideas of witchcraft cannot discount the similarities in stories from all corners of the globe. Witchcraft and its ideas have spread across racial, religious, and language barriers from Asia to Africa to America. Primitive people from different areas in the world have shockingly similar accounts of witchcraft occurrences. In most cases the strange parallels cannot be explained and one is only left to assume that the tales hold some truth. Anthropologists say that many common elements about witchcraft are shared by different cultures in the world. Among these common elements are the physical characteristics and the activities of supposed witches. I will go on to highlight some of the witch characteristic parallels found in printed accounts from different parts of the world and their comparisons to some famous fairytales.

Samantha and Tabitha are shown casting spells nearly every other minute of the half-hour. The show brought forth a revival of the knowledge of witchcraft.
