Why married spouses cheat and can they repair infidelity?
What causes married spouses to cheat really can’t be explained, you can only give opinions on the situation. What can’t be explained, can certainly be opinionized. There are many different aspects of why married spouses cheat.
If you found out that your spouse has been unfaithful, you will undoubtedly feel a whole range of emotions- shock, rage, hurt, devastation, and intense sadness. You may have difficulty sleeping or eating, or feel completely obsessed with the affair. If you are an emotional person, you may cry a lot. You may want to be alone, or conversely, feel at your worst when you are. All these reactions are perfectly normal.
Men who cheat haven’t fallen out of love; they’ve become unsatisfied with the current state of it. Cheating usually occurs in the phase of companionate love, when couples begin to settle down, and have kids.
. While they’re fulfilled in some areas, like being a provider, the romance may be missing. To me men think of women complaining about a lack of romance, but men feel it to. They frequently suffer in silence, believing they can’t get what they want from their spouses.
Most husbands love there wife, but they don’t know how to fix their relationship problems, so they go outside their marriages to fill any empty holes. Men are more likely to cheat rather than women.
Not saying that women don’t cheat, it’s just men are most likely to cheat on their wife that’s just my opinion. When a women cheat its more dangerous with their affair.
Women often head down the path to infidelity when they feel that their hopes and dreams are shattered. Even if we feel that we have nothing in common with women living hundreds of years ago, we can all agre...

...and cause many affects. People become untrustworthy when their significant other cheated on them.
As I mentioned in the beginning of this paper, men cheat for a variety of reasons but these are some things to look for if you suspect that your spouse is cheating:
• Immaturity
• Unrealistic expectations
• Communication problems
• Not fighting fairly
• Destructive means of solving problems
If you suspect any of these things you should try to prove them before accusing he/she.
Cheating statistics in the United States are increasing every year at an amazing rate. Long lasting marriages or relationships seem to be harder to achieve and even rare. In my opinion, this is because more people are likely to cheat because they have been cheated on a number of times.
This can also have a serious effect on your marriage if you know of your significant other infidelity.
did cheat. This article discusses how infidelity is popular in both men and women no
Infidelity really isn't anything new. It's as old as civilization itself. The only thing that's changed is that today's world is driven by technology and so it's easier than in the past to get intimate with another person. At the same time, it's also easier to have paranoid/apprehensive
Carpenter, C. J. (2012). Meta-analyses of sex differences in responses to sexual versus emotional infidelity: Men and women are more similar than different.Psychology of Women Quarterly, 36(1), 25-37.
Whereas emotional jealousy is elicited from the threat of emotional infidelity, that is any form of unfaithfulness that involves a romantic connection and doesn’t necessarily entail the physical act of cheating (Levy, Kelly, & Jack, 2006). It is widely believed that men and women respond differently to infidelity in the way they think and act (Buss, Larsen, Westen & Semmelroth, 1992; Takahashi et al., 2006; Walum et al., 2013). Past research has found that women tend to report more intense emotions in response to infidelity in general compared to men (Sagarin & Guadagno, 2004). It states that due to female fertilisation, males are threatened by a reduction in reproductive success and females are threatened by resource withdrawal (Levy, Kelly, & Jack, 2006; Walum et al., 2013).
Along with trust comes honesty and if some women believe that their husbands may be using pornography they may confront them and ask. Pamela Paul says “a typical males response is ‘of course not’. Then they go on to say ‘I can’t believe that you don’t trust me’ when men say this is makes their wives really think about what they just asked and so they end up believing them” (99). It is sad to think that some women can be easily controlled like the above situation but also most women like to hope for the best so they just decide that their husband is telling the truth. The men on the other hand continue to go on, as life is normal and still engage in porno...
A man has been married to his wife for seven years. The couple has two beautiful children, a fabulous home, and appear to have the perfect marriage. After the husband leaves work one afternoon, he decides to stop in at the local bar. The man sits at a table in the corner of the room. Not long after his arrival, a woman approaches him. She asks the man if she can join him at his table. The two seem to have quite a bit in common and enjoy each other’s company. The woman asks if he would like to go back to her apartment. He has not had a fight with his wife today. In fact, she surprised him with a love note in his briefcase. Their sex life is enjoyable, frequent, and without complaint. The couple is not currently having financial problems. Despite this, why did the man decide to leave with a stranger and cheat on his wife? A great deal of research has been carried out on the topic of infidelity. Marital therapists have reported that more than half of the couples they counsel are in therapy as a result of infidelity (Atkins, Jacobson citation). Therapists also consider an extramarital affair as, “one of the most damaging relationship events and one of the most difficult problems to treat in couples therapy” (whisman predicting sexual infidelity…). Some therapists estimate that 50% to 65% of couples seek help after an incident of infidelity in their relationship (Atkins, Jacobson & Baucom). Identifying the reasons for this problem are essential to the success of its reduction. Infidelity is not a new phenomenon. However, there was little research on the topic until the late 1970’s (Drigotas & Barta, 2001). Numerous factors have been examined while trying to determine the root cause for extramarital relationships a...
...ouses back and get involved with another person. There is not a good enough reason for someone to cheat on his or her spouse under any circumstance. If they want to, then they need to end the relationship first. Or else, they just need to try to make the relationship work as it is.
Infidelity is depicted as an extremely negative thing in the United States, and is often blamed for trust issues, psychologically damaging the spouse and their children, tearing apart marriages and families and more. People who commit adultery are often shamed and told how wrong what they did is and what a terrible person they are for doing it. According to the Journal of Martial and Family by the Associated Press, however, 41% of “marriages where one or both spouses admit to infidelity, either physical or emotional.” Clearly, while infidelity is generally viewed negative by society, many people either decide that it is not as negative as it is portrayed, or do not care and do it anyway. “The Lady with the Pet Dog” and “The Storm” both go against the typical view of adultery being a negative thing in a relationship by showing that it can actually have a beneficial outcome and leave some, if not all people happier.
...me again. The deserted or betrayed party will always look upon their spouse differently, thinking and fearing that they will be betrayed again, or left, with no warning. Hurt and pain will be a constant companion, and they will find themselves always questioning their partner’s motives and actions. Perhaps trust is damaged or even destroyed.
There's no question that dealing with a cheating husband, boyfriend, or man is potentially one of the most painful things a woman will ever go through. Many women tell me that few things derailed them, hurt them, and shook them to their core like dealing with cheating by the man that they love. This can be devastating on so many levels. You question his feelings about you. You potentially change the way you feel about yourself and your ability to make sound judgments.
One thing a married partner should know, is how to catch cheating spouse signs. Some spouses don't notice the little tell-tale signs, while other are quite adept at it. Any small changes in behavior can be a tip-off. But it's not a give-away, it just means it's a good idea to pay close attention to other things that are going on. Displays of odd behavior from your spouse may be a tip-off of infidelity.
I believe this is where the media influence most strongly effects women. Sure, we hear songs about women being cheated on and the man begging for forgiveness, and we can’t help but think “awe that is so cute, I’d forgive him”, but nothing has more of an influence than real life situations. We see strong respectable women like Hillary Clinton standing by her man after he admits to his infidelities and it has an impact on our own decision making when and if it happens to
There was a time when more smart-conscious decisions were made relating to sexual relationships. In particular, sexual relationships within a marriage. However, times have changed. The pillars that hold up our individual sexual values have started to crumble. It is estimated that two out of three marriages fail due to infidelity. This is a scary statistic considering that people believe a marriage can survive infidelity. This brings us to our first myth: Everyone has affairs.
There are several types of effects that can happen in relationships once someone in the relationship is caught in the act. People define these in different ways. Some focus and feel more of the physical effects on a relationship, others more of the physiological or emotions they feel. With the physical signs, it’s more with how the relationship is afterward, and not as focused around the emotions both feel. For instance, when one is caught cheating, many things change. Yes, breaking up generally takes place, but what happens between the breakup or divorce is possibly living separately, and practically preparing for living by themselves once again. This effect is not the prime factor people think about after cheating takes place in their relationship, it is the physiological, or emotional feelings they receive. An article titled “The Effects of Cheating” by Stacy Lucas, goes in depth into the distinct effects people say they feel after either being caught or catching their loved one cheating. Summing up her article, she goes in depth with the grieving process. The grieving process, Shock, Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance, which according to Lucas, is what many people feel after cheating takes place in their relationship. She mainly expresses her opinion on “feeling like you failed”, going on to say “From their actions you feel like a failure,
There are many meanings of the word cheat the meaning that sticks out the most to me is, to be unfaithful to somebody, to have a sexual relationship with somebody other than a spouse or regular sexual partner says MS Encarta. Relationships end everyday due to cheating and the emotional scares of cheating or being cheated on can stay with a person forever. Not only does cheating effect the person that has been cheated on, but it also affects the cheater, friends, and family members as well.
