Rosa Parks is important African American because she made a difference in young people today. They celebrate every February 4 for what she did. She changes the way African American live now. She did some incredible things so we can have rights to seat on the bus. She did a boycott for us. She went to jail to protect us. Rosa Parks was born February 4,1913 in Tuskegee, Alabama. Her mother and father separated while she was young. Her mother moved her and her brother to Pine Level so her mother can live with her parents. In 1929 in the 11th grade attending a laboratory school for a secondary education. In 1932 at the age of 19 she married Raymond Parks. In 1933 she got her high school degree. In 9143 she became involved in civil rights issues
She got the right to sit anywhere she want on the bus. Rosa did a protest and made sure that they didn’t ride the bus. The Montgomery busses went out of business because nobody didn’t ride the bus and they weren’t making money. In August 1955 she meets Martin Luther King. March 7,1965 they marched to Selma, Alabama and they were beaten and tear gas. In 1979 Rosa Parks received a NAACP’s Spingarn Medal. In 1980 Detroit News and Detroit Public schools gave Mrs. Parks a Scholarship Foundation, honoring the 25th anniversary of her stand in Montgomery. She did a boycott and didn’t give out her seat. She did a protest that lasted a year and got the right to let African Americans to seat anywhere they wanted. “I would like to be known as a person who is concerned about freedom and equality and justice and prosperity for all people.” In 1992 Rosa published her first book called “Rosa Parks My Story.” In 1995 she spoked at the Million Man March in Washington. In 1996 she received the Medal of Freedom President Bill Clinton. The first Monday in February 4 is Rosa Parks day in Michigan. Rosa lived in Tuskegee and then moved to Detroit to live closer to her brother. Rosa Parks died of natural causes. She died in her apartment on the east of Detroit.     Life - Rosa Parks was born only a month before world war one started in Europe on February 4, 1913. Parks mother worked as a school teacher in Tuskegee, Alabama. James McCauley, Rosa's dad was a carpenter. They lived in Tuskegee and owned farmland of their own. Rosa gave up school when she came close to graduating, around the same time Rosa got married. Raymond Parks married Rosa McCauley December 18, 1932. He was a barber from Wedowee County, Alabama. He had little formal education but a thirst for knowledge. Her husband, Raymond Parks, encouraged her to finish her courses. In 1934 she received her diploma from Alabama State College. She was happy that she completed her education but had little hope of getting a better job. When Rosa had finished school she was lucky enough to get a job as a seamstress in a local sewing factory. Prior to the bus incident Rosa was still fighting. She had run-ins with bus drivers and was evicted from buses. Parks recalls the humiliation: "I didn't want to pay my fare and then go around the back door, because many times, even if you did that, you might not get on the bus at all. They'd probably shut the door, drive off, and leave you standing there."
