It is the year 1952, and I, President Harry Truman, have an important case to address. John Carter Vincent has been investigated, finding reasonable doubt of his loyalty to the government. However, there is no certain evidence of such disloyalty, but as president, it is necessary to terminate Mr. Vincent to protect American citizens. As the leader of our nation, it is important for me to end any idea of Communist acts. Allowing communist, or a communist supporter to work within our government, is a riskier route to take when considering our national security. Former State Department employee Alger Hiss was found to be a communist in the 1930s, so investigating Mr. Vincent was the right decision to make. I understand that there is no proof,
Truman created a program to investigate federal employees in 1947. This program was established to show that he was working his maximum to prevent communism from entering the states. For instance, “In 1947, under pressure to show that he was making every effort to prevent the spread of communism, President Harry S. Truman established a program to investigate federal government employees.” (2) Since there was no penalty for perjury, the government couldn’t fire the guilty federal employees; however, others were fired because they couldn’t prove loyalty to the U.S. government. People who got fired had their name publicized—it was a very tedious process for them to get a job after the fact. The president’s response and the outcome of this response had much impact on other people’s lives, for some who were presumed innocent had their life that lasted ahead of them ruined.
“Was Truman Responsible for the Cold War”, well, according to author Arnold A. Offner, his simplistic answer is an obvious “yes.” “Taking Sides” is a controversial aspect of the author’s interpretation for justifying his position and perception of “Truman’s” actions. This political approach is situated around the “Cold War” era in which the author scrutinizes, delineates, and ridicules his opponents by claiming “I have an ace in the hole and one showing” (SoRelle 313). Both authors provide the readers with intuitive perceptions for their argumentative approaches in justifying whether or not “Truman” contributed to the onset of the “Cold War.” Thus far, it would be hard-pressed to blame one single individual, President or not, for the “Cold War” initiation/s. Information presented show the implications centered on the issues leading up to the Cold War”, presents different ideologies of two Presidents involving policy making, and a national relationship strained by uncooperative governments. However, evidence that is presented may indicate otherwise as Joseph Stalin provides adequate counter claims for discrediting the “simplicity” of “yes”.
This investigation evaluates the Carter Doctrine and the impact it had on 9/11. In order to successfully investigate the Carter Doctrine and its impact, one would have to evaluate its role in events leading to the tragedy of 9/11. The Carter Doctrine will be analyzed from the different perspectives such as different countries in the Middle East specifically the countries the terrorists of 9/11 were from. Those terrorists and those they worked will be analyzed for their philosophies on the US’s participation in the Persian Gulf. However, this particular investigation will not investigate the different forms of government of the Persian Gulf and the US.
As Jimmy Carter became President of the United States of America, he emphasized his background as a Washington outsider who aspired to “clean up the mess” in Washington. Carter skillfully campaigned by playing on the public’s anti-government mood by attacking the establishment of Washington while delivering uplifting speeches about spiritual and economic renewal. However, once elected president, these same qualities that won him the office unintentionally alienated both his political enemies and his own party. Carter’s public image suffered once he was elected to office, and improved once he left. It was shaped by his enemies and the way the press handled the scandals associated with his office and his dealings with international crises. Carter’s public image was poor not just because of the difficulty of the issues his administration faced, but because of his own poor handling of the media tools available to him.

Truman’s accomplishments in his domestic policy were impressive, considering the hardships the nation was experiencing as World War II came to an end, and the resistance of Congress (which was greatly made up of Republicans and conservatives) to liberalism. The president was able to pas...

For those in high school already starting to focus on college, there is a drive to do well in all areas of their character to boost the appearance of their college application. Students usually try to excel on the SATs, maintain a high GPA, and involve themselves in extracurricular activities in order to become the well-rounded, “renaissance man” or woman that colleges can’t surpass. Students understand that it is important to try their best in everything that they do, but should a three-hour, multiple choice test be a deciding factor on whether or not a person gets accepted into a college? Critics of the SAT accuse it of being classist, racist, a poor reflection of academic promise, and plainly unnecessary. The idea of the SAT is has potential
As college students at the University of Michigan, we all have taken SAT high school. SAT, an abbreviation of Scholastic Assessment Test, is a standardized test widely requested and considered for college admissions in the United States, most prestigious universities are included. My SAT journey started in my junior year with a mandatory PSAT exam. I clearly remembered how badly I was crying on the phone with my parents when I only scored a 120 out of 240. The score on the sheet of my exam, according to my counselor, indicated that I was doing poorly on critical thinking and grammatical questions. Then, a memorable experience of my high school Journey started. Attending SAT prep classes, doing practice exams, memorizing Barron’s 3500-word list,

To compete, as defined by the New Century Dictionary, is “To contend with another for some prize or advantage” (“compete”[Volume 1][Page 294]). The question of what competition is has been settled for centuries, but the debate over what the point of competition is continues to this day. Thoughts on this topic usually fall into one of two categories. There are those who would agree with Henry Russell Sanders’s famous statement that, “Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.” and there are those who would agree with Vince Lombardi, who stated, “Winning isn’t everything, but the desire to win is.” The attitude Vince Lombardi epitomizes is by far the healthier mindset to take regarding competition.
