I am proud of something, and I have discovered without it I do not know what it is I would be doing in the future as my career/job. My special talent is photography, or photojournalism, which I would take meaningful pictures that can affect social change throughout the world. If not photojournalism than just photography where I would take portraits of others, but my eyes are set to focus on conflicts and human rights issues and also the roles of women in traditional societies. It is like I am storytelling without even saying a word. Before I even knew that I could take a photogenic photo I always thought that I was going to be a lawyer, I always told myself I wanted to help put away people that are bad. There was this one class I was in my freshman year in highschool I took a class called principles of law. I was in love with this class. We studied things about how and why people went to jail. We learned about homicides and we visited a jail, but then my teacher told the class that “sometimes you may have to defend someone who is not innocent.” I did not want to defend anyone who was not innocent. This is how I …show more content…
I was really excited, I even would walk around with the camera strap around my neck and the camera in my hand. My junior year in highschool i wanted to take photojournalism or yearbook but could not because of extenuating circumstances, so i had to take two extra classes for both math and science which sucks by the way. I could not have my last two electives i only had my one elective and not knowing at the time what I really wanted to be I chose choir. I eventually made a promise to myself at the beginning of junior year to do better this year than I did my sophmore year and to really just be focused, was really successful and I kept my promise to myself that I would do better and I did. I was so proud of myself my junior year I did not think I could do it, but I
high school feeling utterly nervous; now as a senior, I have been accepted into college! Oh my.
...ademic hardships. Even though I lost so much during junior year, I was unaware of the fact that secretly I was actually gaining a great deal of life experiences and real-life lessons for the future. Quite honestly I feel lucky. I feel lucky that I matured early in life; with this new maturity I feel I can accomplish anything. I feel I can make a positive difference in this world. I feel like this experience will be the primary step in my success, in terms of my career, and in the launch of my Children in Need campaigns in third world countries. I feel like the young superman who just learned how to fly, slightly aware of his magnificent impact towards the world. In short, I feel junior year provided foundation for the more mature and adult chapters of my life, and without the numerous obstacles of junior year, I would never gained the key to a successful future.
I, Hope Turnbull, am a Senior of Stockton High School in Stockton Kansas. My plans consist of attending North Central Kansas Technical College starting Fall 2016, where I want to begin my study of nursing. Due to me having all of my general education courses finished upon my college arrival, I have been accepted into the first year Nursing Program (LPN). I believe that I deserve this scholarship due to me excelling in my education at a very young age. My grades are earned as A’s and B’s in school.
As a young lady graduating from The Dalles Whatonka High School I think it’s important to be involved in as many activity’s as possible. Throughout my high school years I have been involved in many school activities and comities such as student government. I have always had an interest in athletics and played sports. These leadership and athletic roles have tough me skills that will last me a lifetime.
As a child I did not know a lot about college. None of the adults in my life had been to College, my family did not talk about it, and it seemed like a distant land that I heard about only in movies and on Television. I was first introduced to college when my third grade class took a field trip to Iowa State University, clearly a much needed field trip considering my lack of exposure to higher education. I was immediately amazed by the grand architecture and massive buildings. I had never seen anything like a University campus before. The few things that I remember about the trip were that everything was big, the college students played with us, and we got to swim in the pool. While the larger purpose of the field trip may have been lost to my childhood excitement of getting to swim in a big pool, the field trip did mark the beginning of my knowledge of higher education and from then on I always viewed it as something that I would be a part of eventually, even if it did seem like a very distant future at age eight. As I grew older I developed other reasons for wanting to attend colle...
College Education is of the utmost importance to me especially when competing with people in my age group. A college education is also one of the most costly obligations that one must do to gain success. In my academic career, I have gain many experiences that I may not have been able to experience had I not attended a post-secondary education. A college education has never been an option for me it was always instilled in my brain as an adolescent as a top priority. In my youth I was certain of my goals and aspirations, the person that I wanted to become and where I see myself in the future. Some people in my same age group with similar upbringing as mine had ne focus. Their prerogative was to acquire money in any way that they knew how. Their options including, dealing drugs or for women prostitution and or becoming a hair stylist. I was adamant that in my profession a college education was not only necessary as a requirement to obtain a law license but also there were no exit strategies. To elucidate I am speaking of secondary options such as a technical school. My peers often believed that my choice would change and I was just hoping that their state of minds too would alter. My dreams of becoming a lawyer was slowly approaching as I reached the age of 18. High school teachers of mine often attempted to sway me into a different direction since I was not as outspoken as my fellow classmates. However, I would inform them just as I have revealed to others that my dream is everlasting and my path is clear. I will become a lawyer and today examining the course of my short academic years—spending only 17 years in school beginning with Head Start- I would be the attorney I have always wanted to be. Life has not always been daisies wi...
My freshman year was suppossed to be my year, the year I was finally going
“Opportunity is missed by most because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work” –Thomas Edison. I have had to struggle to get where I am today, and there have been times that I thought I would not make it to my senior year of high school. My life would almost replicate the location of a natural disaster to some. I broke my arm this past October and had to undergo reconstructive surgery, everything academics wise fell out from under my feet. After having surgery on my arm I repeatedly missed school for occupational therapy, which is a form of physical therapy. On top of my arm, I had just gotten my job back at Arby’s. By November I was working anywhere from 20-35 hours a week with school, a broken arm, and OT. I had no time for anything, not even sleep. When I was at school I could barely keep my eyes open, it eventually got to the point that when I was able to attend a full day of school I would sleep during some of my classes so that I would not fall asleep at work that night. I have worked harder in this last year just to make it through, than I have in the last four years to keep my grades up. I work every night now, and my arm is a little more healed than it was when I first started my job, but I still have limitations as to what I can do as a human being. Throughout this essay I will cover these three major points; the most important thing that I have learned in high school, why the scholarship will make a difference in my educational goals, and how I hope to make a difference in the community with my career.
First off, I would like to say again, thank you for nominating me as a possible recipient for this scholarship. I do not think I have ever been recognized for my academic achievements throughout my entire school career. I never was really focused and determined to learn before like I am now. So just the nomination is an honor, no matter if I receive the scholarship or not. Thank you for the recognition. It truly made my day.
Photography has been my dream job since I was little. I got into photography because I love to catch my own perspective of how things look, not the beauty that others see or the uniqueness of something. I take photos to show people that everyone looks at things differently and that everyone has their own view
Introduction Purpose - This technical report is to show how the engineering process can be used to help solve the problem of house-flies entering houses. The report will also include factors that might have a direct relationship with the problem. Background - House-flies also known as the Musca Domistica (Malik, Singh, Satya, 2007) are becoming more of a problem every summer as they are attracted to decaying matter and high temperatures speed the decomposition process up significantly. This makes houses ideal for flies to eat, breed and spread dangerous diseases such as dysentery and cholera (Kaine, n.d).
Offered my passion in long-lasting discovering and also skill-development, I commonly ask individuals which brand-new abilities they're wanting to find out. The most typical response? "I want to be a far better professional photographer". And forever reason!
A global citizen is that who is willing to use its voice and knowledge to make a change. No one would ever be able to make a change in just one day, it is something that takes time and devotion. I’m really interested in diversity and I’m seeking to what is my role is as a world citizen. The fact that I’m searching for an international education is the proof of my desire to establish myself as a global citizen and my interest in the world issues.
My career goal is to have the ability to tell a story through images. These images will be the documentation of important moments in someone’s life and with these images, persons will get to relive the moments that truly matter. My father is the person who influenced me to pursue a career in the most amazing type of art.
