The idea of free college tuition seems like a splendid one at first glance, but a deeper look suggests it may not be so ideal. College is definitely an achievable goal if you are willing to work hard for it. College tuition should continue to be based on scholarship and financial need. College tuition continues to be based on scholarship and financial need for many reasons. Free tuition would render college as high school part two. This “high school part two” would contain kids who don't care about education and just attend because it was free. These students would attend class carelessly and disrupt other students. Students wouldn’t be driven to do their best because they don’t lose anything if they flunk out. Although college is expensive, it can be affordable if you work for it. The government averages community college tuition at $3,800. Working a minimum wage job with forty hours a week over the twelve weeks of the summer would bring in a tax free $3,480 dollars. During college, a large percentage of the students attending have to take out student loans, but keeping those loans under control could save tons of money and stress. Keeping student loans reasonable and paying them off as soon as possible keeps them underwhelming. Scholarships also help out in keeping college cost low. Community college is a great way to figure out what to do before spending money on a more expensive schooling option.
