In the beginning of class, my mentality regarding my career development was an inane thing to consider. My ambitions of career choice were destroyed when I developed a medical condition that refused to let me be physically active in the job I desired, and so it became nothing. Nevertheless I wanted to amble out of class since I strongly believed that I would not find something that I would love and actually want to do on a day to day basis. Through my personality test I have come to realise that even though some circumstances may prevent me from accomplishing my dreams there is alway an alternative, and for me that means a career in the healthcare field. Doing odd jobs here and there, just to make ends meet. As a native from mexico, my family and I have seen our fair share of struggles. My family had to work countless hours in Mexico just to be able to afford to come to America. Because of their situations and illegal status the opportunities were scarce and undesirable. In America they had to take countless of odd jobs just to make end meet. They fought tirelessly for the American dream that they instilled in me the value of working hard for what you want in life. They taught me that hard work and determination are the only rules to live by. Because of their teachings, I put my very best effort into everything i do as my family has unceasingly told me, work is excessively vital as it produces money to the table, a roof over our heads, and food in our stomachs. It is why we are remarkably busy and do not spend time together like other families do. The American dream has been a tangible idea, greatly sought after by many over the course of American History. The dream has eluded many, to strive for achieving in America’s open markets, and become a self-made man from the sweat of one’s brow. The idea of become self-sufficient, and have limitless dreams that take one as far as they are willing to imagine is captured very differently from The Great Gatsby to A Raisin in the Sun. Both novels seem to have the American dream as their subject, but both end up having very different outcomes to how one achieves it, and if the dream is truly in existence, namely with the characters of Jay Gatsby and Walter Younger. The books mainly brushes upon the idea of what the American dream truly is, how one achieves the dream, and what the real fulfillment the dream encompasses.
Decisions matter, in the play Death of A Salesman, our playwright, Arthur Miller, compares Willy Loman, a carefree father who seems childlike, and Charley, on the other hand, is a kindhearted man of few words who is equipped for the real world. Both Willy and Charley long for the American Dream but on their journey there they go down completely separate paths. Throughout the play, Willy Loman proceeds with various decisions that are not in the best interest for him or his family. Meanwhile Charley only does what is best for his family and his friends. Although Willy and Charley are both fathers who care for their children, not everyone can get the American Dream.
"Priorities" is a word that gets forgotten far too often. It's part of a national phenomenon, really. Americans boast about their way of life. We crow about our standard of living. We puff out our chests about being the world's last superpower. We try to force our way of life on others. If they just lived like us, we think, they wouldn't have the problems they do.
After review of my skills, interests, and experiences, I decided to pursue the medical career field as my first career choice, more specifically as a physician assistant. I will exceed in this position in the interest of that I like to help people and I solve problems well. Also, I communicate well with others and I have a great amount of patience. There are various careers that fit my skills and interests, but this one grabs my attention. My dream job is to be a doctor, but this occupation allows one to save money by lessening the years of school required. Also, the pay isn’t too shabby either. I will be successful in this position due to my skills, characteristics, and values, like honesty and helping others. Up to this point, I have job shadowed at a medical billing company and I like the idea of diagnosing and helping people, but a desk job is not ideal. Also, I took a medical terminology as a class and I discovered that I like how the body works and what it does. These factors have all influenced my career goal.
The definition of the American dream is the ideal that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative. This “dream” has been alive since the founding of the United States. Millions of people have grown up on this idea including people from other countries. This amazing idea seems great in retrospect, but in reality it cannot be true. If the American dream did exist I have my own as I’m sure everyone does.
There are many reasons why the American Dream is not being fulfilled anymore, people are losing their jobs or struggling to hold one down, parents are providing their children with whatever they desire, colleges are raising tuition, terrorist attacks are making it hard to live comfortably, many people are going back to their countries because it is easier to live the dream they want. A career in the medical field is always evolving, and always needing more hands. I knew from a young age that helping people is what I was meant to do, and from then on out every step I took was the way to a successful career in nursing. It is a profession that allows you to see people at their worst, all while helping them become their best. The most important task for nursing students is to create a clear pathway for our education, and to be sure to follow that plan accordingly. When choosing this career, I had to access my own strengths and weaknesses and really establish clear goals for myself and evaluate if I had what it takes to be a part of this diverse and skilled profession. I also decided not only not only do I need to set professional goals for this career, personal goals are important as well.

Growing up I came from a family of two sisters and a brother. My parents worked hard to be sure that there was always a roof over our head, food on the table, and clothes on our back. My worked for various companies until he was able to obtain his degree as an electrical technician. Today he maintains his own business known as McGhee Electric. My mother also took on various jobs to make ends meet. She began work as a cosmetologist and slowly climbed her way to the top. After rigorous schooling and training, she is now Licensed Practical Nurse.
For many americans the american dream is living in a country where all citizen have equal rights, have a stable jobs, achieving financial success and being able to afford all your wants and needs and lastly supporting your family. The american dream is achievable for most of the us but the other half believes it isn't. they believe you must be wealthy, have a high education and have a white collar job. As I examined my interests and goals, however, I underwent a process of personal growth that has propelled me towards a career as a physician. A career in medicine will allow me to integrate thoroughly my passion for science into a public-service framework. Since childhood, I have loved acquiring scientific knowledge, particularly involving biological processes. During my undergraduate studies, I displayed my ability to juggle competing demands while still maintaining my academic focus; I have succeeded at school while volunteering part time, spending time with family and friends, and working part-time. To better serve my expected patient population, I worked over my English and Korean language skills. I have come to discover that a job and even a good income, without another significant purpose, will not bring satisfaction. I planed to utilize my assets, namely my problem- solving affinity, strong work ethic, and interpersonal commitment, to craft a stimulating, personally rewarding career in medicine. I have taken stock of myself, considering my skills, experiences, and goals. I have looked to family and friends, some of whom are doctors, for advice. Because of this self-examination, I have decided to pursue a career in health care. The process has been difficult at times but always illuminating. Throughout it all, I have never lost confidence - the confidence that I will actively absorb all available medical knowledge, forge friendships with fellow students, and emerge from my training as a skilful and caring physician.
