I have learned throughout my years in high school that someone will always have an excuse for why something is going badly for them whether or not the excuse is valid. I have tried to do away with these excuses in order to make myself a better person and a better student. To start with I made up many excuses for why I had bad grades in my classes in 9th and even some of my 10th grade classes but, these excuses hold know validity and in the end even if they did it wouldn't make a difference. My grades could have definitely been better if I had put in more work but I feel that as of the end of my 10th grade and the beginning of my 11th grade year I have changed drastically as a student and a person. I no longer try to make up excuses for my grades
As a senior, my past is full of things that I wish I had done differently. My past years in high school weren’t always the best, but they make me who I am today. Problems that I dealt with were that I had trouble keeping my grades and GPA up because, I was more focused on socializing and being a class clown than I was on my school work. Because I wanted to be a class clown it also caused a lot of behavioral issues. I ended up being kicked out of my ninth-grade math class because of it, damaging my GPA even more. Having behavioral issues is never a good thing it caused me to be suspended out of school, which are reflected poorly on my attendance. So, when I was in school, I was so far behind that it made it nearly impossible to catch up. I feel as if these were some of the worst decisions I could have made, because it’s made it so much harder for me going into my senior year.
I am completely embarrassed about that. I know I should have forced myself, no matter how tired I was, to finish everything. And not just do it to get it done, which I also did a lot, but to do things and give it my best effort and spend as much time as possible fixing mistakes and making it as best as I can. Something in these past years that has tripped me up the most is forming and withholding a connection with most of my teachers. At times I am not the best at making “friends” with my teachers even though I know that is a very important aspect of my school
I alternated my focus from completing my assignments to meeting new acquaintances were what really killed me in the long run. I began to pick up poor habits of talking into class, and transferring my attention from the teacher and to my electronic device. My assignments started to be turned in incomplete and that took a huge fall on my grade. Honestly if I was to go back in time I’d change all of my mistakes and make the right decisions which are to block out the people that accounted for my failure. Allowing obstacles to bring you down even though you have the capability to overcome them isn’t the right way to go if you want to be successful. In order to be successful you need to learn who to associate yourself with so you can mainly focus on the goals you want to archive to make you better mentally and physically. While looking over my transcripts, I observed that my grades for the most part either remained bad or got worse second semester. Despite how I perform in those classes I have the easiest time understanding math, and the hardest time with history. The trends in my transcript correlate to how I’ve been my entire life, I give up easily. Once the smallest thing goes wrong I give up rather than trying persevering. I choose to keep rolling down a hill because it's easier, rather than to push myself to climb it.
During my junior year of high school, I often skip classes, sleep on class, and don’t even do any of my homework. By the end of the school term, I ended up with failing all six classes and had my GPA way lower than the passing average. I and my parents had a big fight about the grades that I had and the school even had us sat in the parent center to reconcile our problem with a psychologist. After the talk between my parent, the psychologist, and me, my parents seems changed, they don’t restrain me anymore like before. Even though I still thought that education is not important, but I started working hard to make up all the classes that I failed to get my high school diploma because I realized the hope that they put on me and I don’t want them to be disappointed again. During my senior year of high school, I did not only take six classes, but also working on a program called Cyber High to retake all my failed classes with high grades, and also take extra class to average up my GPA in order to meet graduate requirements.
In first grade, our school’s first real academic year, I began to stand out against the other students because my comprehension of the subjects was more advanced than everyone else’s. I had an advantage over the other students, I was-and still am-able to teach myself whatever I wanted to learn. By second grade, I was taking classes with the advanced third grade students. Not only was I taking classes with the third grade students, I was doing as good as the best students in the class. Towards the end of the first semester of second grade, the school decided that it would be better for me to skip a grade.

As high school students, most of us were taught the dream of going to college from the importance that it has. The real life examples from our friends teach us the importance of going to college. If you drop out of college you may lose yourself, your family, and your friends. One of my friends dropped out of college because he had a bad friendship. So, they convinced him not to go to the school, but when he grew up he realized that the college was the most important thing in his life. Even though we know that “college is the best thing”, why we drop out of college? That fact is that we drop out from the college for many reasons.
The fact is exercise, seemingly no matter how intense it may be, yields impressive results. It’s apparent that exercise is good for individuals both healthy and unhealthy alike. However, the facts surrounding exercise apparently do not ensure that they will appeal to nor motivate some individuals to make exercise a priority in their lives. It has been well established that excuses work. They are very powerful tools that are used regularly because in some way individuals using them believe they provide some benefits. (Tyler) While excuses will seem to always be employed in some fashion, it is our job as fitness professionals to be just as precise in designing an individualized exercise adherence strategy for our clients that helps eliminates their excuses as we are in the exercise programs we create for them.
My life in high school started when I was in Nigeria. I don't think first or even know the so before I do things. I was the type of girl who didn't bother about my grades than much, but some of my friends really bother about their own grades. In some of my tests or quizzes I always thought that there is no need for me to study that much . Then I thought about myself in elementary or middle school that I used to be mostly the top student of my classes and think about some of my bad grades that I have and started to wonder where will this bad grades take me to or is there anything that I have done wrong in my life. On a faithful day, that my english , governments instructor notices that only few people are getting perfects scores on their tests and they will reward them. Excuses While I was sitting here thinking about this paper, many thoughts went through my mind or many excuses not to do this paper. Thoughts like, I'm tiered I just want to go to sleep, I'll just not go to class tomorrow and thoughts like trying to lie my way out of it, knowing that I shouldn't even be thinking that way. This example of the way I was thinking is not a substantial excuse.
Because of his successful life, Steve Jobs was invited to give the commencement speech at Stanford University in 2005. However, Jobs did not graduate higher education. Jobs is just an example of people who did not graduate from college. In the real world, people have many reasons why they drop out from school. Students leave school, even thought they do not graduate from schools because of financial aids, students’ interested, and crime.
I was on track to become an honor grad. I was just barely above the required GPA, and I had the perseverance to keep putting all I had to reach my goal. Through my first 3 years of high school, I had above average grades, and put everything I had into becoming an honor grad. But in the middle of my senior year, “senior-itis” started to kick in. My grades had begun to drop, and the perseverance that I had started senior year with had vanished. I was accepted into college, and I no longer found a reason to continue to study like I had in the past. I stopped studying for tests, and I basically stopped trying. I would get “sick” a few times a month, and miss school. This was out of the ordinary for me. I was the kind of student that missed two or three days a year. Since I wasn’t in school, I missed a lot of lectures, and missed a lot of assignments. These assignments were graded and I could make them up, but I only did the things that were easy. Whenever the third grading term was over, which was the cut off for grades that counted to become an honor graduate, I had found out that I no longer had the GPA to be an honor grad. I had missed it by just one percentage point. At this moment, I realized that I failed. I had put more than 3 years of hard work and dedication in to become an honor grad, and I basically flushed it all down the drain during my senior year. I had let myself down, along with
Living up to my resolution, I joined several clubs, both in and out of school and academic and recreational. I also met some of my very best friends in high school. Achieving all of this, friends, memberships to academic clubs and good grades, made up my first successful experience in high school. I was driven by the years in middle school and the promise that I made to myself at the end of eighth grade. Throughout my under classmen years I exceled in all subjects and thoroughly enjoyed the clubs I had joined. I think my downfall for the last two years of school was that I took for granted my good grades and as my classes got more rigorous I didn’t change the way I learned the material, but continued on the same path that I had been following my entire academic career, even when my grades were slipping slightly. Halfway through my senior year, I realized I needed to change the way I was learning the curriculum my instructors were teaching. I’ve always been the type of student to take good notes or listen to a lecture and understand everything the first time around, as was the case in elementary school and middle school. But my more rigorous classes proved to be a challenge for me and I did not know the proper way of learning the material on my own.
