Why I Chose Organic Craft Beer

When deciding to start my own local brewing company I didn’t really have a concrete business plan. I knew I wanted to own my own company and to do something that I enjoyed every day. I have been a coinsure of beer for over ten years now. Some might say it’s “just a beer,” but I taste and recognize the uniqueness of each beer I encounter. After thinking about that I knew I wanted to own my own local brewing company making craft beer that not only satisfied the consumer, but a gave them an experience they remembered making them come back again and again. Also, by choosing craft beer I feel it brings a more personal experience to the beer consumer. My beer is specialty where the flavors and overall taste are important throughout the experience. Craft beer is more independently owned and we still to traditional brewing methods but add in our own unique flavors. We believe in high quality and experimentation without product. Microbreweries’ are responsible for approximately 13,235,917 of the 200,028,520 barrels of beer sold in the United States in 2013, according to the Brewers Association.
Craft beer consumers tend to be well educated, wealthy and are looking for quality, flavor and uniqueness compared to the regular beer drinker. They support beer that has distinct characteristics and they are interested in the small local market versus the vast commercial market. I chose organic for my company because it allows me to control the quality of product that is going into my beer. By having hops, barley and yeast with no pesticides, growth hormones or additives it allows them to grow and mature naturally and brings out the best flavor of the product in the long run. Because of the lack of pesticides in the hops and barley the beer can better ferment for the product to create a thirst quenching and unique healthier beverage. In addition, it takes away from the damage that we do to the land growing these products because there is not environmental clean up afterwards. This also benefits our small local breweries cost for economic clean up. By using our locally grown products we also help support the St. Louis economy and small farm business. Our basic process is like any beer company to extract the sugars from the grains so that yeast can turn it into alcohol and CO2, creating beer. But in this process because we use organic products and we have added in a rich dark coco to the mix, we created a thirst quenching dessert craft beer that you see today. Most may think why chocolate? Well the chocolate is not as over bearing as you may think. The chocolate added to Rich Rust beer adds a warmth and roasted background taste to the beer.
