Universal technical Institute, one of the best auto mechanic schools, is known for their excellent diesel mechanics program which will further my knowledge on vehicles. Universal Technical institute or, UTI, is a very good college for my career choice. My career choice is auto mechanics and, UTI, can teach me that and much more. In UTI’s fifty one week auto mechanics program, I will learn everything from basic engine systems to computerized fuel injection, anti-lock brakes, passenger restraint systems, computerized engine controls and much more. Addition to the cost of textbooks and tuition, students still must pay for housing and for commute. Most student must take a part time jobs while being a full-time student to pay for their housing, textbooks, etc. They have very little studying time. For example, I personally am work part time and I am also a full-time student. I do not have a lot of time to study because I have to work to pay for my commute, housing, textbooks and the net price. Tuition alone is not the cost student must pay, but also for housing and other stuff. According to pbs.org website, A sophomore, Samantha Yazzie has to borrow $20,000, not for tuition, solely for housing during her freshman year alone. “I worry about paying it back,” said Yazzie.
Furthermore, to attend a university, it is becoming more expensive to receive a degree of your choice. Parents are expected to save their money from the moment their child is born, although, they might not have that privilege to save their earnings. One way I could benefit from the program is by saving money on tuition. My sister is currently attending college and by the time I graduate high school, my parents would like to save as much money as possible. This paper is about the Section 529 higher education savings plans that allow family members to receive certain tax breaks while investing for a child’s higher education. The data used in this study is the historical rate of return on a Connecticut 529 plan versus the benchmark, the S&P 500. The time period covered was the inception of this plan starting in 2002 up to the start of research on this study, the end of September, 2004. The tests show that although this particular 529 plan offers tax benefits that could help in investing for higher education, that this particular plan failed to outperform the market during the period observed. Therefore it is my conclusion that there are better investment options on the market to invest in a child’s higher education than this Connecticut 529 savings plan. This study may lead to further observation of other Connecticut 529 plans as well as 529 plans managed nationwide to figure out if 529 plans are as effective as advertised.
My career of choice is a diesel mechanic. I have wanted to be a diesel mechanic for my whole middle school and high school career. I want to do this job because I want to be like my uncle, he is the top diesel mechanic in the US. The thing that grabbed my interest is I like to work on things and fix things so I figured this would be a good job. I really do any concerns in getting my degree as a diesel mechanic.
